I love his independence. I love that he has his own thoughts and opinions and doesn't just agree with me on everything. I love that he hasn't ever given me a reason to mistrust him and to be confident in the love he promised me once and for always. I love that after making love he eats frozen popsicles and checks on our boys before going to sleep.

His ability to love. When I met Jim, I had been divorced for less than a year from a man who tried to kill me more than once. I moved 4000 miles away from that monster, bringing myself and my children to safety. Safe I was. Willing to ever trust a man with my children or my heart? Not in this lifetime, honey!
I met Jim less than a year later. I explained to him why I would never consider having ANY relationship with ANY man ever again. He said "I understand and I'm a patient man."
This man was patient and understanding. He loved me and he loved my children. He gave me the time I needed to learn to trust again and he gave my children the same thing. Two years later, we were married. Our children, two from his first marriage and my two, stood up with us. We've been married eleven years and though strange men still make me nervous, I don't feel like I have to hide behind a wall to stay safe anymore.
He gave me and my children the ability to live, really live, trust and love again. According to the professionals who help women like me, it is rare indeed for a man to be so understanding and patient. I'm lucky!
We now have five grandchildren and one on the way. Jim loves them all and in our family, the word "step" is never used. As he says, they are all our children and we've taken the "steps" to prove it!

The love in his eyes every evening when he comes in from work. The romantic sparkle that has been there for the last eleven years.

he makes me laugh. hes not a serious guy even though im a serious girl. when im upset he thinks its hilarious! you would think id get mad at him or think hes insensative but i dont think thats the case. its his way of showing me that its ok, and im being too serious, like hes telling me not to worry. it actually calms me down and makes me laugh too. when he becomes serious with me, then i'll know when the situation is bad. but if he continues to laugh then i know everything is really ok.

His scent. And when he wears this cologne he likes, I get weak in the knees.
And his face. And his laugh. So much!
