I am a photographer and I wish people tipped me. But really when you are paying thousands of dollars for 20 pictures you really don't tip the photographer.

No sweetie, this is about the only thing you don't tip. Pictures are expensive enough; trust me! I just spent out $458 on senior pictures on my daughter and now I got a info package on cap n' gown picture's and there are $405! (I'm thinking Nursing may of been the wrong profession to go in..lol $$$ wise!) This hurts the pocketbook. I have spent this already on 2 of my children to graduate. She is child #3. I have 2 more 2 go..Man! Which brings me to my second side job. I also play the piano for churches, for wedding, etc. It is customary to tip the pianist approx. $50-$75 or what ever your budget allows. Just so you know. Some do however have a set price. I do not, I just let the couple give (tip) whatever comfortable for them.
Well, I hope this helps some. I am just speaking on behalf on pianists..(me). Since this wasn't mentioned. Wish you all the best sweetie.

I am a photographer, and a tip would come as a surprise to me. Honestly, the best thing you can do for them is ask if you can have some business cards/brochures so that you can recommend them to your family and friends. This is the best "tip" I have ever received.

Well here is what I have been told. If the photographer works for a company with other photographers employed then you should tip no more than 150.00 because they do not get all the money.
If the person is self employed it is your choice to tip because it is their buisness and the money is going into their pocket. But when you tip anyone never tip more than 150.00

Don't tip the photographer.
Tip servers.
Tip the clergy-person.
Tip the driver.
Can't think of who else you should tip, but certainly not the photographer.

If they own the business, which is usually, you are not suppose to tip. You only tip those that are not the owners of the services you are getting. Ex: waiters, hair & make-up - and sometimes it is included.

you DONT! Oh my god are you crazy?! You are already paying the photographer probably thousands of dollars for a SERVICE. Dont tip him or her, they dont expect it nor deserve it for providing a service they are already being WELL paid for!

You don't but they are welcomed to chow down on the wedding food.

You don't. Not to sound harsh, but they are getting plenty of your money for taking the pictures to begin with.
