Cheaper by the Dozen. (The original, not the remake with Steve Martin.) It's so cute!

It depends on what kind of old movies you're looking for.

I would recommend in the way of old horror flicks the silent "Nosferatu" with Max Shrek which is fantastic (and the first Dracula retake on film), "The Hunchback of Notre Dam", "Night of the Living Dead" or "Haunting of Hill House".

Joan Crawford movies are always a great bet, or Bette Davis. If you see some and like them, try seeing "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" wherein both actresses, who were real life rivals, appear together in a film that really gets to you in a more disturbing sad way. Also "Sunset Boulevard" which centers around an aging actress trying to regain fame and recognition and the struggling screenwriter who gets caught in her web. "Beloved Infidel" and "Roman Holiday" also are good.

For movies that aren't black and white but still have the thought-provoking cool feel of the oldies, try getting slowly into Woody Allen films (it may take a couple viewings of the same to really enjoy it, but once you do it's totally worth it)--go for "Annie Hall" and "Manhattan".

I love Robin Hood movies, so the old one starring Errol Flynn is one of my favorites and definately worth a look. Flynn as an actor is also great, so if you enjoy his performance in that one, take a look at some others.

"To Kill A Mockingbird" is one of those classics preached about a lot like "Gone with the Wind", but unlike "GwtW", it's actually really great and not nearly so long, but definately read the book before hand ;^)

"Suddenly Last Summer" starring Elizabeth Taylor and "Butterfield 8" are also really good, showing her range, as well as the prerequistory "Cleopatra" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"

"Bonnie and Clyde" is one of my favorites as well as "Valley of Decision" (which deals with the steel industry of the early Industrial age, and a love between an Irish immigrant and a steel mill owner which causes conflicts--it's actually a lot better than it sounds).

Fellini films are really bizarre but if you're up for a challenge they're also really great, try "Cassanova" first, "Satyricon" might be a little heavy at first.

Some actors of note could be Michael Cane (esp. in his early days), silent film star Mary Pickford, the aforementioned Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, also Hedy Lamarr, Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, etc.

If you don't want to rent all of these, TCM is really great with the oldies (and is included in almost every basic cable package, from what I have seen), and every month they have an actor/actress spotlight, so you really get to delve into one's work. If you don't want to sift through a lot of war movies sometimes, however, try getting the Plex channels (indieples, movieples, etc) with a cable package with which you will see so many fantastic old and newer films that are thought-provoking and obscure.

Also, for more films in a list, try checking out amazon's list mania stuff. They have a ton with what you may be looking for and if you find the used ones (which I have never run into a problem with) for really cheap, they have a constant shipping price which is something like $3.50.

Hope this helped!

Hi !
I can tell you about Hindi movies. Though our movies are three hours long with lots of songs but some of them are really superb. Old Hindi movies have songs which are meaningful and according to the situation. Most of new films are bogus. You wud like the one I am giving the name of, just watch it with subtitles and you would really like it. These films are-
Anand-starring Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan
Abhimaan-starring Amitabh bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri
Mili- starring Amitabh bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri
Khamoshi-Starring Rajesh Khanna and Wahida Rehman
Hum Tum- starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee
Black- Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee

At least see the first one(Anand)

you should give some more information, such as what you consider old, what genre you enjoy the most...

But with what you have given here, I would suggest:
anythng Alfred Hichcock
anything Clint Eastwood, and especially Coogans Bluff
Everything 60's and 70's Disney (this alone will fill a video library)
and one of my all time favorite indy films:
The Legend of 1900
