A lot of high schools require a language - mine only had spanish. Do you have other language options, if so are you interested in one? If that's the case, make that point to your principal - that you have an alternative and arent just dropping out to be lazy. However, it is still pretty late in the semester, so you probably couldnt transfer into a different class this semester - so I would think about it, would losing credits mess up your overall graduation plan?

On the other hand, if you had spanish in elementary, you might want to just go ahead and stick it out through high school. Most colleges also require 4 semester of a language, and if you have a strong spanish background in high school it will just be that much easier in college.

Since youre teacher isn't teaching you, I would complain to the principal about that instead of about dropping. Tell him you took spanish on the expectation of learning it, and youre teacher isn't helping you do that, and tell him what shes doing blah blah. He might get a replacement teacher or talk to her and give her pointers on how to teach better.

Many schools will give you an F for the year if you drop after the first week or 2. Are you failing? Do you plan to take it next year? Most colleges expect you to have 2 or 3 years now. You can also get an award of distinction with 3 years of a language on your diploma.

If you can pull through it you may want to stick it out. Ask your counselor about the F thing. If you are failing this early it is not too late to get help. Often schools have National Honor Society tutors. Think about it. These are things that the principal or counselor will say to you. They do not care what your reason for dropping is. You can tell them that you hate it or that it is too much work or that it is against your religion. It does not matter what the reason is. They will still ask you about the things that I just did. Be prepared to answer them.

explain to the principal your reasons for wanting to drop out. if your reasons are good, i'm sure they'd let you. but if you wanna drop a class just because you don't like it or want a study hall, then they probably won't switch you.

and you need a few years of a language to get into a good college anyway, so i suggest you stick with the class!

it depends on why you want to drop out of spanish class in the first place.

tell her that you gave the class a try and that your not interested in the class. say that by staying in it you will only become more disiniterested and your grades will drop.
