If the bed covers are mainly blue, I would pick up a color that compliments the blue in the covers. Colors from Sherwin Williams that you should check out are: Citrus (orangey-yellow), Outrageous Green (A darker lime green that is really fun and playful), and June Day (pale yellow). Go to http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/ and check out their Color Visualizer (side of the page). You can find the blue that is most like the one that you already have in the room, click on it, and it will be shown with 2 colors that compliment it. It's a really handy tool, and you can look at any color you want. Find those colors I mentioned on the Visualizer and see if you like them. Good luck.

it is red and green that shouldn't be seen.....
however some shades of blue and green can go quite well together and even some shades of cream and brown can blend well. I would suggest finding a wallpaper border to trim the world that have a blend of those colours and then paint the room in two or more shades of those colours.
Have fun playing with colours and seeing them with each other... enjoy the process and do not make it too much of a stressful decision.

I like a shade of blue, probably any shade or maybe even close to their sheets would go nicely and you could paint the border around their doors and windows white along with their ceiling, door and closet door, unless you want it all one colour.. However you could also ask what colour the boys like..
Also another suggestion is put like a cloud scene on their ceiling.. you could paint their ceiling white then take the left-over blue paint and dab with a sponge, very cute for a boys bedroom.
One more would be, If the boys do not agree on one colour then put it two different colours, hopefully they match, like one wall a nice shade of blue and the next one a nice shade of red then green and the last wall yellow...It may work out...
Well Good Luck to you.. Happy Painting!.. hehehe

At that age you can have so much fun and enlighten their sleep, play and learning area with more than simply painting it.
Do a basic wall color of powder-puff blue. Roll it on, doesn't have to be perfect. Leave swirls, droplets and splatters. The following part you can do yourself or for more fun with the boys let them join in........
Get some rubber stamp shapes in airplanes, cars, trucks, tractors, dianosaurs, tools, bugs, animals, sea creatures (whatever they are into) YOU brush some paint on the stamp.....and simply stamp the wall with fun shapes.
I have a 3 year old little girl. When I was pregnant I was at a lose of what to do for her room? I didn't want the regular nursery, with Winnie the Pooh or Precious Moments. I knew I was going to have a girl so I painted her room cotton candy pink. I rolled out the walls, then used rubber stamps of lady bugs, dragonflies, flowers, butterflies, bees and big leaves. Then bought some boarder of an animated green vine with buterflies and flowers. I also used glitter paint to add wings to the bees and so forth.........
I went into labor painting the purple butterflies at !:00 a.m. on a Friday night. I felt a slight contraction, kept painting, 15 minutes later I am on my way to the hospital.
The decor has blended with the change from infancy room to toddler room simply by removing the baby bed and changing table and adding a toddler bed and throw rugs in the shapes of flowers.
The original curtains are lime green with purple squares and swirls. Which now suit her toddler stage.
The paint and curtains will remain for several years. My next plan is a Fairytale Princess theme so with very little changes the butterflies and flowers will become a princess wonderland!
I already bought one of those pink mesh netting canopies and jeweled lamps to plan her "big girl" room.........
So plan a paint theme to last for years. Add new items as the boys grow. Get twin beds ( or those car beds) for smaller boys, bunk-beds as they get older. You will save so much money by creating a useful wall theme.
Good luck to you...........

A red, white and blue sport theme would work well and save you from having to update when the boys need an "older" look for their room. I used this for my 10-year old and the best part was that I found neat stuff to decorate the room EVERYWHERE! Ask the boys to pick a sport or cover all of them.

Use a blue scheme, with white doors, closets, chests, armoires, shelves, rug, bookshelf, etc. That's what I have and I love it, but I'm a girl. Also, you could a get a mural of a ship on a wall if you felt like it.

Red, Blue and Yellow
Make the colors playful since they are still young.
Having just one color on the room makes it boring.

Almost any shade of blue, or dark green. Nice, sedate colors but not sleep-inducing.
Red or orange would make them aggressive or hyper!
Light yellow can make them a bit more mellow. Pink even more so, but you'd embarass them before their friends if they had pink walls!
