My life is full of hate? Gosh, I had no idea.
When did I ever say or imply that I am an authority on the truth? Knowing that there are no gods is far from being an authority on all things "truth".
I WISH my life was a little more empty, heh. I mean, to be honest, I wouldn't give up any of it... I love my son and my husband and my friends and family and job and everything... but things could slow down once in a while and I wouldn't be opposed to it.
I'M wasting my life? *eyeroll* Yes, I'm spending hours and days and weeks and months and years stifling my ability to reason and critically ponder reality, bogging myself down with unecessary guilt and shame and self-loathing, letting myself be happily deluded, almost drugged.
Yeah... that's "me".

I can only speak for myself. I am a thinker and i have studied enough religion to realize that it is all false. Hate filled life? The only thing i have a hatred for is disrespect of humanity... something that religion often promotes. I don't attack Christians, If it ever seems like i am it's a parallax of perception. My goal in any question or answer i post is to promote critical thinking not only about the views of others, but of the reader's views as well. I often question my own thinking and through criticism can find the closest thing to truth that is available.

well, I've noticed that there are zealot atheists as well as zealot Christians and both can be rude. however, you're "question" is revealing of the WAY Christians are rude. the unquestioned assumption that anyone who doesn't believe as you do lives a miserable life and so vents frustration on the poor persecuted Christians. I realize that American Christians are missing the martyrdom factor in their lives. Christians being the religious majority in the USA have it so easy that they must actively look for ways to feel persecuted. so some Christians tend to morph every pointed query of and disbelief in their myths, every minor slight or intrusion of logic, every snort of derision as the infliction of agonizing persecution under which they must suffer for their lord's sake. considering what real martyrs sacrificed for their Causes the spoiled brat whining of American Christians mocks the heroic and stoic bravery of true martyrs. you people are shamefully pathetic.
PS. what point were you trying to prove? that you could troll for hostility and get some? good job! Jesus would be proud of you..

I assume you categorize yourself as one of those joyful Christians. How sad that you spend so much time meditating on the hateful, empty, shallow and sad. Seems you could think of something to be joyful about and write about that.
Apparently not. So much for Christian Joy. With joy like that...I'd be an athiest!

The reason I am an athiest is because of questions like this. If you look at any organized religion, they pretty much all have a history of intolerance and persecution. And while I will always respect individual's rights to worship at the altar of their own choosing, I have simply never felt the presence of "God" (feel free to insert the name of whatever deity you worship here) in my life, or even a need for "God". The reasons why I am an athiest are pretty simple. I believe that a long time ago social leaders looked for a way to bring their people together, to create what Christians call "morality", in order to get people to follow social norms and rules in order to create a viable society. What better way to get people to do what you want than to get them to believe that they will be held accountable for their actions after death? However, even though I am an athiest, I see organized religion as a positive thing in our world despite the murder, rape, abuse, and intolerance all performed in the name of organized religion. The reason for this is because the good that organized religion creates far outweighs the negative it produces. I guess in this light, you could categorize me as an "existentialist athiest". Existentialists take the viewpoint on God as "The question of whether or not God exists is irrelevant because it can't be answered What does matter is how man's belief in God affects his existance". Since I believe that organized religion (in general) positively affects humanity and social organization, I view it as something positive and useful in our society.
However, I am not about to believe that Moses parted the sea or that Jesus turned water into wine simply to fit myself into the social norm. I feel that I have developed myself morally to the point where I do not need an organized faith to make me a good person. There is NO PROOF that any organized religion has ANY basis in fact, and until someone can show me proof that A God exists, I will continue to run my life based on my own beliefs concerning morality. There is more evidence that beings from other planets have been to earth, than evidence that Jesus was the son of God. But guess what people believe more in?
If I am a simple, sad, and empty soul, why am I trying to be the voice of reason, while the writer of this question attacks non believers? I thought Christians were supposed to be understanding and accepting of others...guess you missed Bible study that day. But please feel free to continue to spend your time praying to a "magical winged paperweight" to quote one of my favorite authors. Its better you spend your time in a house of worship than killing others for not believing the way you believe.

I am not athiest, or christian, but I don't think this is a very christian question, and not very joyfull either. In your religion, aren't you supposed to leave the judging up to God?

Neither. I don't attack happy, easy going christians. I do however, love to point out how many christians are hypocrites. For instance, you accused me of being: empty, sad, shallow, a low-life, and being full of hate.
It seems to me that YOU are the one who is full of hate, all I had to do to prove it was quote you.
How does pointing out your hypocrisy prove that we are sad, empty, shallow and full of hate? It doesn't. You are just angry because we pointed out how hateful you are. I just hope one day you'll get past that, but it seems that many people love hate too much to ever quit.

LOL... you are SO funny! Have you researched this? I am a very happy person... of course, I'm not an atheist... I'm a Pagan... but I think that happiness is possible without believing in the mythology of christianity. Blessings!

Pot, I'd like to introduce you to kettle. The atheists I know are more kind than Christian (even in my family). Atheists believe that this life is all we have, therefore tend to hold life as precious....as well as the environment. Obviously you haven't thought further than what Mommy/daddy told you. Grow up. YOU are a hypocrite, like I was......until I started being somewhat intelligent. Anyone who gives thumbs up to that question ought to sit on theirs! Read Woody's comment below, oh joyful one.
