nurses work all hours.... say you were to do the 7a - 7 p you may only have to do it 2 days a week if you can afford to live off 24 hours. (which as a nurse you probably can) or of you company offers baylor which means you work these hours but get paid for 36 or whatever.. you can do 4 hours shifts, 16 hour shift.. as a nurse you have ALOT of options to chose from.

hmmmm....if you want time with your daughter, nursing may not be the career for you. as a new nurse you may be working some long hard hours......esp night shift. 12 hours are common and you don't always get out on time. depends on the unit you work on. some work 8 hours, some 10, 12. 7am-7pm very rare for a new grad. i've been a nurse for 15 years and not had children. can't imagine having any as that is another full time job in my opinion. nursing is very physically, mentally and emotionally demanding. but again, it does depend on the area you work so you have options.

Nurses work a variety of hours in a variety of settings. I used to work shift work - 12 hour days and 12 hour night shifts - for 10 years. You do not work every day (unless you choose to and that will only burn you out). Trust me - done lots of overtime. I moved to US 10 years ago. Started working 12 hour days - usually 3 days per wk - sometimes 4 -5 depending on how much cash I wanted. then I got a M- F job - 0800 - 1630 (sorry 8am - 4:30 pm) - still in the hospital - but not direct patient care. Now I have another position - and still work M-F 0800 - 1630. If you want more info - contact me at my email.

Honey, there is such a shortage of nurses right now, you can almost write your own ticket. Not all shifts are 12 hours. You also have the choice to work 4 days, and off 3, with 10 hour shifts, as my daughter does. It is a very good living, and I wish you well. Good luck.

I am not a nurse, but I am also a nursing student and have talked to other nurses and as with any other job they have shifts like 1st 2nd and 3rd. They are usually 12 hr shifts and are usually only 2-3 days a week.

Nurses work a lot of long, and crazy hours! If you don't want to work double shifts, or long hours, then I would suggest a different career path, or try and get on at a clinic, or private Dr.'s office, that has a set schedule! But good luck with that!

nURSES WORK ANYTIME IN A 24 HOUR DAY. i WORK MON-THUR 8-4 AND FRIDAYS 8-12. YOU JUST HAVE TO FIND A JOB THAT WORKS FOR YOU. MOST HOSPITALS WORK 12-HOUR SHIFTS, WITH NO OVERTIME AFTER 8 HOURS. THEY SAVE MONEY THIS AWAY. YOU SHOULD CONTACT THE HOSPITALS, NURSING HOMES, AND COUNTY AGENCIES IN YOUR AREA THAT USE NURSES SO YOU CAN FIND OUT THE HOURS THEY WORK. EACH GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION IS DIFFERENT.
