It all depends on what you consider safe, there are many things you can do to improve your chances of a safe and fun time . First off check what the us embassy has to say also find out where it is located in Thailand . If you are staying there for more then a few days , register with them so that if something goes wrong it will be that much easier for them to help you . If you have never been there try to find someone who has( some one who is at least sort of familiar with Thailand ) and ask them for advice . You may also want to pick up a guide book to Thailand also . Be careful and enjoy yourself , just use your common sense .

For every part of Thailand is safe but except for the South of Thailand

I have lived in Thailand for 3 years. It is just as safe as always. The current political situation is a downer for such esoteric notions as democracy, but to the average person, it means little day-to-day.

I would be very cautious of U.S. Embassy travel advisories. They are more often than not exaggerated or outright inaccurate attempts by G-something foreign service staff to cover their collective U.S. govt. asses. The American embassies around the world are notorious for being unhelpful to expats and nationals traveling abroad.

How much should you bring? That depends. But you can save a lot of money by eating street stall food. It is both very reliably safe, excellent and cheap. You can have a lunch of pad thai or som tam for the equivalent of about 60 U.S. cents.

Thailand is very safe.
Ignore what the American Government says - they are full of s*it. They used to issue anniuncemants saying Chiang Mai was unsafe when I lived there, and I never saw anything even approaching the dangers of New York or London!.

You can live for as little as $11 per day if you rough it, or as much as $60 per day if you do everything, or even $100 per day if you want the very best of everything

Perfectly safe to travel.

US1 = 38 Bahts. It all depends on much you have with you, how much you want to spent. Wide selections of accomodations, shopping and food; to suit all kinds of budget. Bahts 600 accomodation, or Bahts 3000 for an international 5-star hotel. Noodles by the road at 30 Bahts and the same fetches 200 Bahts at the restaurant or hotel. Designer jeans or their copies at Bahts 600 perhaps. Your choice :-) Enjoy!

If you worry about the politic situation.
It seem like nothing to be the problem to travel in Bangkok.

But we've got new airport last week, there is some management problems such as delay of traveling bag delivery.

And some flooding in some area at the beginning of this week, better for today.

Any others? visit http://www.nationmultimedia.com

I am going in a few days., It is safe and pretty much normal--same as always. My friends there all say they hardly notice any differences....some even for the better. I have a condo and can't wait to get out of the US.
