also read books by former spooks... one of the best is robert bear the book is called see no evil the true story of a cia ground solider that was the coolest book i read in a long time....

You don't. It's not a job they advertise but they are generally "recruited" from Military Intelligence units and the Diplomatic Corps and are often people with multi-lingual abilities. In fact the process is quite similar to what they call "grooming", a technique used by paedophiles to gain access to a desired victim.
