I really like this girl, only problem is she likes a guy 2 grades ahead of me. He's like a total sports player, and I'm like a total music player (guitar, piano, tuba, baritone) She seems to like me but how can I compete with a Jock? Girls flock over them like mad when there are really other people who are just as talented and will make it just as far if not farther in life, and more than likely treat them better too.

Your day will come and you are very true when you say that other people will make it further in life than the jocks. Just wait until your 20th class reunion -most of the sports hottie guys have big beer guts and are more or less unhappy and the folks involved with music and academics during school look like a million and can acutally hold a conversation. They also have pretty interesting careers. Be patient, good things come to those who wait and I bet you won't have to wait long. Best to you!

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you're one of the average Joes. Women are usually going to be drawn to the strongest men and you'll take on the demeanor of a wallflower, and will acquire as about as much respect playing the trumpet, clarinet or whatever. Music is not the best girl-getting option, sorry.
Look, learn a martial art, or something. I don't like football players and it's largely a sport where guys can dress up in shoulder pads, take cheap shots at others and can walk away. They're maybe one cut above hockey players with their sissy hockey sticks. You need to outshine all of those punks somehow.
Okay, well I've given this some more thought and I guess there's a lot to be said for being yourself.

I don't know about this girl, but when I was in high school (which was only 3 years ago) it was the MUSICIANS that had it going on. So what if this guy plays football? You seem very hard-working in what you do.
If this girl seems to like you, then go for it. Don't try to get all competetive and jealous because that will give her more reason to back of in fear of a crazy dude. Just play it cool. Compliment her, try doing things that are fun, and ask her out on a date. She won't say no.

yeah, it's true many, many girls fall for bad guys.
u shouldn't compete with the jock, u should bring out ur own talents. for example many girls melt when they hear a guy play guitar (so do i, it's sooo hot)
so guesss what, u got an advantage

You sound like a great catch if this girl can't see it find one who will. Just do your thing and don't worry about this other guy. If she is genuine she will like what you have to offer. A guy with girls crawling all over him may seem like a stud to another guy, but to girls it can be a turn off.

I wouldn't be too concerned about this one. In the long run, you will discover that the musicians always have women flocking all over them. Just keep doing what you are doing.
