God's power is not limited, so He is omnipotent. There is nothing He cannot do because of a lack of power. However, there are things he cannot do because of His divine nature. He cannot learn because He is already omniscient. He cannot forget, for that would make Him less than omniscient. He cannot do evil because He is all good. And He cannot make a rock too big for Him to lift because He is eternal, which means He is God without beginning and without end. If there was a rock He couldn't lift, then He would not be God. Therefore this ridiculous question actually is asking whether God can create a circumstance in which He is not God. No, He can't. He is always God. A situation in which He is not God is impossible by definition.

Judges 1:19: "The LORD was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had iron chariots. (NIV)"

the men of Judah were unable to drive the iron chariot people from the plains. this does not reflect on God's ability.

You are an example of what happens when a nonbeliever does not bother to read for himself. The only effort that was required of you was to turn the page and read Chapter 2:1-3. That's right oh great one. You only had to read a little more. They disobeyed God and made a treaty with those who they were supposed to drive out. And they worshiped other Gods. As a result, he did not drive the enemy out completely.

You are my hero! Keep them coming!

The definition of God that theologians came up with in the Middle Ages included omnipotence. The Jews of the Old Testament, obviously were working wtih a different definition.

Judges mentions this and other tribes all through this passage having difficulty removing the canaanites from the land because they were not determined enough. This doesn't say that God was unable to do this, and is therefore not omnipotent.

No because if he is infinitely powerful, could God create a rock that he cannot lift?

1. If God can, he would then not be all-powerful as he cannot lift it.
2. If God cannot create that rock, then his power is limited as he cannot do that.
