I used to drink 3-4 cans of regular soda a day. Then I switched to 3-4 cans of diet soda a day in an effort to eliminate high fructose corn syrup intake. Now, I want to cut back the diet soda...that level of carbonation, caffeine and acidity is too much for anyone's system...any suggestions from fellow "addicts" on how to cut back their soda intake without going crazy?

I agree with lisette. But you can start on drinking fruit juices and adding some carbonated water if you are still addicted to the fizz. Then slowly pull back from the carbon and drink fruit juice. And then slowly dilute with water before eliminating juices out all together to just wonderful good for you H2O.

Have you tried substituting Cola with good carbonated mineral water?

Have you tried to reward yourself for not giving in to soda and instead getting something else you really wanted - a new music disc, a book, a bottle of fine wine, etc.?

You know I noticed it's always a matter of habit - once you go without something for 3 weeks you can do it for the rest of your life. Just say NO and good luck!

Drink flavored seltzer waters. They come in a variety of flavors, theyre clear, no added dyes or food coloring, yes theyre sweet, but nowhere close to the high sugars in sodas. They even have diet seltzers. My favorite flavors were rasberry and root beer, and I hate rootbeer soda! You can buy them in 6 pack bottles or a 2 liter, in the same isle where you buy sodas in the grocery store. Good luck

I stopped drinking Soda. I started drinking carbonated water (sometimes the flavored kind). Just the water being carbonated helped. I use Plain selter water or tonic water and then sometimes added the crystal light packages. I dont drink soda anymore it kinda weaned me off of it... Hope this helps.

i like arizona ice teas -- don't know about the high fructose thing though. Their energy Rx is good but not full of the typical energy drink stuff -- it doesn't make you all tweeked out. Glad you are cutting down on the high fructose corn syrup though -- that stuff is scary and they are just figuring that out 30 years too late!

We switched to tea, iced tea (homemade, not canned) and water. Sometimes when we're out, we order soda. It takes care of cravings. We never buy soda for the house. Good luck!

Just stay away from it. Don't buy it. It is that simple. A soda habit can easily be kicked. I used to drink alot of cola in the past and was addicted to it. Then I realized it was harmful, and switched to water instead.

Just stop drinking it. Drink iced tea to stave off caffeine headaches. Eventually you can cut back the iced tea and get off the caffeine totally.
