The meaning of Matthew 10:34 >>>

When Christ Jesus was on earth, neither the natural Jews nor the non-Jews were at peace with Jehovah God. Having transgressed God’s law, the Jews had come under the curse of the Law. (Ga 3:12, 13) As for the non-Jews outside God’s covenant, they “had no hope and were without God in the world.” (Eph 2:12) However, by means of Christ Jesus both peoples were given the opportunity to come into a peaceful relationship with God. Pointing forward to this was the angelic announcement made to shepherds at Jesus’ birth: “Upon earth peace among men of goodwill.”—Lu 2:14.

The peaceful message proclaimed by Jesus and his followers appealed to ‘friends of peace,’ that is, to persons desiring to be reconciled to God. (Mt 10:13; Lu 10:5, 6; Ac 10:36) At the same time this message caused divisions in households, as some accepted it while others rejected it. (Mt 10:34; Lu 12:51) The majority of the Jews rejected the message and thus failed to discern “the things having to do with peace,” evidently including repentance and acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah. (Compare Lu 1:79; 3:3-6; Joh 1:29-34.) Their failure resulted in the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman armies in 70 C.E.—Lu 19:42-44.

What did Jesus do on the night of his arrest?

(Luke 22:49-51) 49 When those about him saw what was going to happen, they said: “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” 50 A certain one of them even did strike the slave of the high priest and took off his right ear. 51 But in reply Jesus said: “LET it go as far as this.” And he touched the ear and healed him.. . .

(Matthew 26:52) 52 Then Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword.

(Matthew 11:25) 25 At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes. . .

>> (Proverbs 2:1-7) 2 My son, if you will receive my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself, 2 so as to pay attention to wisdom with your ear, that you may incline your heart to discernment; 3 if, moreover, you call out for understanding itself and you give forth your voice for discernment itself, 4 if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it, 5 in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God. 6 For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; out of his mouth there are knowledge and discernment. 7 And for the upright ones he will treasure up practical wisdom; for those walking in integrity he is a shield,

Peace be with you.

Jesus makes a distinction between his brand of peace and our definition of peace. His is true peace, brought about by His truth. If I want to have peace with God, I must go through Jesus to have it. If my doing that causes my father or mother to be against me, so be it. I still have peace, but disharmony has been created. Just not for me.

It is impossible to have peace with God and have peace with all men. We have to make a choice. What means more to us? I made my choice and I have never regretted it.

The funny thing is, the reality of having peace with God seems to bring more peace with others than I ever thought possible.

[32] So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven;
[33] but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
[34] "Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
[35] For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
[36] and a man's foes will be those of his own household.

My understanding of this is that he is saying those who choose to follow him would be hated by members of their own family. Think how many Christians were persecuted and martyred during those early days. He was saying, this is not going to be an easy path where everybody will love you. He’s saying that his teaching will be like a sword and cause a lot of bloodshed for those who chose him.
Sadly, he knew how ugly it would become for his followers.

If you read the rest of luke 2:14 you will see "on earth peace, good will toward men, on whom his favour rests."

To those who Jesus has chosen as his people, there is peace.
To those who Jesus has not chosen, there is a sword.
(luke 22 is out of context, as he tells his people to love their enemies)

He was a man of peace. You just have to understand the bible. Talk to your minister he may be able to help you there. But he is the Prince of peace.

Dude,

Chill out.

The greater point to ponder, is that Jesus "Never" sinned and has the power to rise from the dead!

His bones are absent from the grave!

It would be wise to listen to what He has to say!
