If the Universe is infinitly old, then it never began. It could never be created since it was always around. So if that is the case, then what role does a "creator" play when there is no need for one.

But if there was no beginning to everything, then the Universe has always been here. What if "our" Universe is just a bubble in an ocean of bubbles.

Of course the Big Bang is true but what if the big bang is just the next birth or expansion of the universe. Or even the end of the last Universe?

We humans are finite beings - with finite minds. How can we comprehend infinite things? For instance - numbers and counting goes on forever in both positive and negative directions - can it be completely understood? Time is another infinite concept - past and future go on infinitely - yet all we have is the NOW... difficult to fully comprehend? I think so. To me it is like a sphere - it has 1 surface but infinite sides... God says he is infinite. IF anything in this universe is infinite - perhaps it only makes sense that it would be created by an infinite being, who is all knowing, all powerful and omnipresent.

Infinite knowledge of any of these infinite concepts must be accepted by faith - because a finite being can not test the unlimited nature of infinite things. To say that a finite being could comprehend or test infinite things is foolishness in concept.

First of all, you'd need to define "universe." If, by Universe, you mean the nothingness in which everything resides, then you're probably right. But, then you'd have to explain how matter came to be.

If, by universe, you mean the empty space AND the objects inside it, then you're dead wrong. The common daily occurances of Birth and death contradict your theory. Things begin, then they end. That is a dependable description of the nature of the Universe.

The question that is most important is not so much where the universe came from, but where WE came from, and where we're going. Most of us desire to know what the meaning of life is.

And that is why we look to God.

I am not sure. There is no proof the universe has always beenm around. People believe it began through a big bang. If it did begin that way, then who lit the fuse.

Thank you. I have been a fan of the oscillating universe for decades. It is nice to see someone else considers it a possibility. It answers all the questions for me. Big Bang, expand, with energy exhausted contract to singularity, Big Bang again, throughout infinity. Simple isn't it.

Even if the universe wasn't always around, we still don't know what was outside of this universe that allowed it to happen.
