Help! I think a small fishbone about half a inch is lodged in my throat. I've tried washing it down with food and vinegar but it just won't work!! I still sometimes feel like something sharp is lodged in my throat. But most of the time, it doesn't feel like there's anything in my throat. What should I do?!

If you're just going to tell me that I should see a doctor or that I will die, DON'T ANSWER MY QUESTION.

I've already tried throwing up and gagging. It's still there. It just won't go away.

I agree a big old hunk of dry bread will do the trick. If your breathing isn't affected, don't worry. It will fix itself eventually. But it's so irritating in the meantime.

Gosh. OUCH. My first reaction is is this really from a fishbone since it was so small and you have done so many things. is it instead inflammation from the fishbone going down for example. This is why you might want to have your primary care doc or an ENT check your throat.

But a suggestion that I think will work is: To get a fishbone in your throat out, cough until you gag. Repeat until the fishbone comes up. Spit out. If necessary, look in the mirror, try to see the bone and grab it.

Bone In Throat

Try eating a fairly large mouthful of some fresh bread - no butter. Fresh bread has just the right consistency to grab onto that little sucker and drag it down your throat. If that doesn't work - you should see a doctor. Good luck!

for "do-it-yourself" at home, have someone take a look at your throat to the place where you think it is. Use a very bright flashlight. Have ready a tweezer (boil it first it you want) and if lucky, it could be plucked out. It's very annoying and if you go to a Doctor, they will do the same things. It'll only cost you.

If you have already eaten white bread and threw up chances are that either you have the bone sticking into tissue and if this is the case only a doctor can remove it ,or you have scratched your throat badly.
Wait and see if the sencation goes away. If its still there by morning you have to have it emoved professionally. Sorry.

I think you probably just have a scratch there and nothing stuck.

However if it was me I would already be at the doctor asking him to take a look at it. In fact the last thing that i would do is ask the Yahoo!Answer gang to come up in the next three days with a best answer as to whether I am choking to death.

Sometimes when we swallow pills larger than normal they feel link they are still stuck in the throat. What most people are feeling is the scratch from the food or medication that was swallowed. Give it time and that feeling will go away.
