i am a cosmetologist and what you should probably try is to wash your hair everyday and use a better shampoo than herbal essence.. i would try Matrix's amplify line.. with your thin hair that would work great
if its thinning out try washing your hair every other day and using a comb instead of a brush - that reduces the breakage. Try going with wavy hair for a while. You can go to CVS or Walgreens and get a natural oil mousse or hair cream (like tea tree oil or olive oil based products)and rub it in your hair and scrunch it or braid it before you go to bed. that'll create waves and it will pamper your hair. so your hair gets a break and you get a new style in one solution =)
oh and if it looks too oily rub the stuff in when your hair is wet or take a smaller amount and I think you mustgo to the beauty parlour.

If your hair gets oily then you should just wash it every day. That's what I have to do. I know allot of people say you should wash your hair every other day or every two days or what ever, but not every ones hair is the same, just wash it if it's oily. On days your not going to go any where you could go without washing it. As for the splits, you should trim them off even if they aren't noticable. Splits can travel up the hair shaft and get worse if you leave them. Try washing your hair and letting it air dry. Good luck P.S. Washing your hair does not make it fall out.

Buy a better or more expensive shampoo and conditioner, one that is made for people with oily hair. Keep in mind that some people just have oily hair, and its in the genes. Good luck.

p.s. you can also try using conditioner only on the ends of your hair and not at the roots.

Wash your hair everyday, I also have oily hair but I have to wash it everyday, also I cut my hair very short and it grew back in thicker. Don't know if this will help, but I tried.

blow dry your hair upside down for volume and use some mousse for styling. try not to fry your ends, and use a heat protector on them. split ends are just malnurished cuticles, get a trim first, then start protecting them, once they've split, you can't really save them.
