my daughter has a project and the question is "find one contribution to amercian society from japan. need and article or something we can use in the bibliography page. have searche google, yahoo, and ask.com with no luck

Our large population of white, overweight teens with acne and greasy hair who think they're Japanese because they watch DBZ and Pokemon. ;D

Um, to be serious, various electronics, for one. A lot of the gadgets we use in very recent times were first created in Japan.

Oh, and really awesome video games, like the stuff from Squaresoft. :D Most great games are created in Japan, first. I think it's just the crap sports games that are made here, lol.

They've taught us a new way to manufacture things, efficiently, and with quality. They've also taught us about the "Just in Time" supply system, where materials are received from suppliers just as they are needed, instead of warehousing a lot of raw materials.

They've given us Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and anime too.

They've given us Japanese food and Sushi.

The VCR, the Sony Walkman/Discman, robot technology, Anime cartoons, Hello Kitty, fuel efficient cars, Pokemon, sober reflection about nuclear technology since we DID bomb them, Sushi. I'm sure there's more.

The automobiles Toyota and Datsun...They took alot of our inventions and with their technologys made them smaller and more compact. For instance computers, calculators. cars, global position sensors, automobile radios, stereos, and alot of other electronics like the circuit games like pokeman and etc.

I teach supervisors and when we get to "skills" I remind them..


In WWII we pretty well kicked Japans @ss... And they have been kicking ours in industry ever since... They taught us "TEAM WORK" and how one employee's idea can make a difference.
