Check out The House of God - Keith dominion. They have a long tradition of using "Sacred steel" (steel guitars) in their services.

Here's a link to the Campbell Brothers. One of the leading practitioners of this style. Half of the songs are instrumental, with a definite blues influence.

Scroll down a little and click on "celebration & giving". A few others are instumental too.

If I were ever to go back to church, it would be one of these. They know how to party.

The hymns I grew up with don't sound anything like blues. However, many churches now have more contemporary music and several instruments such as drums and horns. Much more entertaining than the boring stuff I had to put up with.

Uh....word to the wise here.....Gospel and Blues ARE NOT the same. Not even close.

None-the-less, I see nothing wrong with a little Christian blues here and there. I prayed for a squillion bucks. Didn't get it. I was singin' the blues that day!
