I had the same problem a while back, except it was cats and fleas. My cats had fleas pretty bad, they are indoor-outdoor cats. I tried Advantage for one month, and it didn't seem to be getting rid of the fleas. Every time I walked into my bathroom, about 15 fleas would immediately jump on my legs. I got some RAID foggers and fogged the bathroom only one day, and got them all some Frontline. No more fleas since then. I also used a pill called Capstar for them as well. You give it to them and the fleas start jumping off within about 5 minutes. I haven't seen any fleas in my house of on my cats since. Good Luck!

If he already has fleas, its best to get either frontline or advantage. Frontline will kill fleas and also ticks, while advantage will only kill fleas. Getting a flea colar after he has fleas will not help.
You can get advantage or frontline from your vet or most pet stores. Don't be fooled, they are the same product. Your vet or eithers might say differently, but the vets actually get the medicine first, and then sell it to retailers. So, its all from the same source.
If the dogs does have fleas, you need to get some flea carpet dust powder from the local store and follow the directions. While most fleas outside will die off soon (cold), you need to break the cycle in your house. Wait about 2 weeks and then reapply once more to your carpet.

A) Give the dog a bath using a fresh bottle of dog flea shampoo.
B) Throw everything possible into the washer and then the dryer. This includes all doggy bedding and any blankets or pillows that are lying around.
C) When Doggie is dry from his bath, put on a good quality anti flea drops (don't skimp on off brand names as they don't work as well.
D)Vacume EVERYTHING! Carpets, furniture, drapes and everything else. You can sprinkle some flea powder on the rugs and all too.
E) Throw out the vacume cleaner bag as soon as your done because the fleas can climb out of the bag! Get the bag out of your house as quickly as you can!
F) Check your puppy every week to ten days as flea eggs can hatch up to thirty days after your first puppy bath. Be ready to bathe him again and again if needed.
Good Luck

I use K-9 Advantix and I love it. You can get it from your vet or local Petco or Petsmart. It usually runs about $50 for 6months. Advantix works for fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes but it is toxic to cats. Advantage is about the same price but it doesn't protect against mosquitoes and is not toxic to cats. You can also get Frontline at Petco and Petsmart. On the down side you have to apply this treatments once a month. When using Advantix I don't have to use any other methods or treatments for the yard.

I would suggest to wash your dog with the blue Dawn dish soap and get some borax for your carpets and vacuum it after you let it set for a bit(dont let your dog eat it). You could try the flea stuff at the pet store but i dont recommend it because you dont know if you dog is allergic to that stuff--they can die from it. It happens often believe it or not

Flea collar and Frontline will work. You can also spread Ortho Max grains in your yard to help prevent them, you can get that at Walmart in the garden section. that is what we did this summer cause we were infested with them and it worked all summer.

go to www.petmed.com and order front line, it is the only thing that would work for my dog. or you can go to the vet and pay for a visit and the medication. your choice. however, this is the only thing that would work for me. And they also have some suggestions for itch control on their website that you may give your dog. If may take up to two weeks to work after the application and also the bites will need to heal. Good luck, hope this was helpful to you. God bless
