I just started taking Topamax two weeks ago and one of the side effects I am experiencing is some pretty bad acne on my face and shoulders. Has anyone had this side effect? If so, is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks.

I've heard lithium also causes bad acne.

I would have to say makeup do cause some type of breakout on the face.. I'm 34 years old never had acne on my face my birthday is July 25 so decided to wear makeup for the first time it's been bout a week in a half now my face started breaking out in some type of acne. Make up had to play a major part in that and also the fact I am new to this and wasn't washing my face every night or using primer also played a part. Again this was my first time wearing makeup but I know now and hope this makes a difference.....

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

Although I've never taken that particular medication, almost half the medicine on the market lists acne as a side effect. It just depends on what the compound is. I can't say I have severe acne, but I have had vicodin break out my skin. I know they say birth control pills are bad about that too.
You aren't reporting any thing really all that unusual, but its nice to know that you are willing to warn people, or at least ask.

I have not read any where that topamax causes acne. I think you must have another problem.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

I would ask your doctor about this. I never heard of this drug causing acne.
