You should actually switch it up. If you do the same thing everytime you excercise your body will get used to it. I do everyother week, the ellipitical for and hour 4 days a week, and then the treadmill the next.

Either one is great for losing weight, chose the one that you find more enjoyable and that you would rather do for the rest of your life.
