I think it is a bad trend. I know people with tattoos get tired of people telling them it is going to look really nasty when they get older, but it is true.
It looks trashy and cheap. People with tattoos like to defend it by saying that they are expressing themselves as an individual or something, doing something different, but it's hardly different, and it isn't original at all when _every_body is getting tattoos.
And ladies, please...stop with the back-butt tattoos. No matter how cool you think your design is, they all look the same and they're all ridiculous. I have sat behind enough of them in class to reserve the right to say that the tattoo peeking out of your lowrise jeans, (along with the weird moles and faded stretch marks on your back that you must not realize you have), is NOT sexy.

I agree with you. I am a guy who is 26 years old and for me tattoos are a turn off. It ruins the canvas, so to speak. Maybe I am shallow but if I know a girl has a tattoo I will not even think of asking her out. Not that a tattoo is the end of the world or anything, but they just do not float my boat. Girls trust me most moral up standing guys do not like tattoos. A girl is far hotter when you can see there natural skin not an ink stain.

Whoever sais that tats are for people who hate themselves is a complete moron. I am a 28 year old professional female and I have three tats and I'm in the process of designing number 4.And I feel damn good about myself in every aspect of my life. There are people that do get inked for the wrong reasons and that's their bad choice to deal with. But just because a woman gets a tat doesn't mean they are getting it because it's "cool". I got my tats because I love ink. I love looking at them and I love getting them. I don't care who doesn't like them. If I want 20 more that is damn well what I am gonna do. I get my tats for ME and for no one else. And yeah, as I get older and nature takes its course and they may not look quite as good as they do now, I don't know of to many 70 year old women that run around in shorts and tiny tanktops which is pretty much what I need to be wearing in order for people to see mine....for now. Until the next one.

I really hate to see women get tattoos, it may seem cute now, but just wait until the skin starts to sag. Very unattractive. Especially the women who get those outrageous tattoos, or the big ones. Of course, I am in my early fifties and am a little old fashioned about this subject.

Hey, tattoos are not just for sailors anymore. I have tats too, but because I work professionally I have to keep mine in places where I can wear professional attire and they are not seen. My husband is a biker and he loves tattoos on a woman. It turns him on, the thought of painted flesh. Mine are mostly vines and flowers and such. It's just a personal thing. Oh, we've been married for 19 years and going strong, so tattoos work for me. Besides, when a person gets a tattoo, it's really not for YOU...it's for THEM.

As for me a tattoo is something you like or has some type of meaning behind it. Sure, maybe some girls are getting them cuz they are in style-but they will regret it later. Others just may like them or has some type of meaning for them.

You're right on the mark. Common women are demonstrating their low character through advertising. I've seen way too many tramp stamps since this latest tattoo fashion stupidity started. Hey! All you individuals, enough already.

I agree, there is such a thing as TOO MANY tats or piercings. The women w. tattoo sleeves and other crap are gonna look like hell when they're older. In fact, it doesn't look too cool now.

I'm a woman, and I have two tattoos. I have a band around my upper arm, and my daughter's name on my ankle. Both are very tastefully done, and I personally like them.
I did not get them becuase it was the popular thing to do, nor did I get them to emphazie my beauty.
I got them because they have personal meaning to me, and remind me of what is important.
I agree that many people are getting tattos, just to fit in or because it's popular, and they will probably regret it later in life. But, those of us who put thought in to what we are putting on our body tend to be happy with our decision to get a tattoo.
