As long as you've tried that size on in the store, and there have been no alterations, then I'd say go for it! I will probably be buying my dress off of ebay, too.
The only thing that I can think of that you might miss out on is that David's Bridal (I don't know about all the other wedding dress stores) does alterations if you buy your dress through them.
Just make sure that the dress is from a reputable seller, with a good rating, and that they offer some sort of return policy in case you get it, and discover a big stain on it, or a tear, or it just doesn't fit, or something.
And to the person who said that your wedding must not mean much if you're not willing to spend the extra $500? Well, that's half of my budget, right there, and that's if I'm lucky! Just because you have the means to spend $700 like it's nothing doesn't mean that we all do!

My sister just bought one for her wedding next year off of ebay. And it is beautifull. I think she paid like a pretty penny for it though. But it was extremely nice. Had a little lavender tint to it also. I think she paid around $1200 for it, but is the original person paid about 3k for it. My sister did not even win the auction. Below reserve, but they made a deal after end of auction.
I myself would never spend that much money on an article of clothing. I don't care how nice or what occasion. But go ahead and buy it on ebay. The listing should have the size and cup size description, so there really should be no problem. And if there is, there are stores that do modification. If you can save around $500, go for it.

If you buy the dress from the store, you can get alterations at David's Bridal. If you buy the dress from ebay, you will have to find your own seamstress that is not affiliated with a bridal store.
A friend of mine purchased her dress online, and she had no problems. Her aunt is a seamstress, though. I don't know how many problems she would have had otherwise. It's important to get a seamstress that has worked with bridal gowns.
Be sure to check the seller's feedback and sales history!

Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Make sure it is the EXACT same dress from the designer to the fabric to the stitching. You may get it and not be able to return it if there is a problem who do you negotiate with?. No dress shop in town will touch it. You will have to find a reputable cleaners to have it cleaned and pressed and steamed. If alterations have to be done you wont be able to go to a bridal store you will have to find someone to do those and it could take longer.
Not only is it the dress you pay for but the service that comes along with it. Go for it if you think its a deal but it sounds like an awfully big risk to me. I bought my gown at Alfred Angelo and I love it.

In reguards to alterations, if needed..my daughter had to have hers altered, and it was from dior, and they charged her for it, along with all the bridesmaids dresses. if you need alterations, go find a quilt or sewing store, they usually keep business cards of reputable seamstress..go ahead and get your dress on ebay..just check the ratings of the seller and read the feedback carefully. my other daughter got her dress for 125.00 , at "jessica mc clintock" shop..mostly prom dresses, but a few wedding dresses that are really nice. they may have a web site. not sure.Good Luck...

I don't see any reason for you NOT to buy it on ebay. E-mail the seller and ask a few questions (is it in good condition, etc. etc.) and make sure the seller has a good rating score. You can always have the dress cleaned and altered to fit your perfectly. Go for it and congrats!

As long you try the same dress on at the store and figure out the size you need, then I say go for it! You may also want to check out www.customweddingsolutions.com for your tiara and other accessories. They have just about everything and have a good return policy.

It's all about state of mind,it's traditional to buy it from the store and the ebay one 'may' come with problems, but if you truly don't mind buying your dress on the internet it should be fine.
However, don't think of yourself as silly to want the dress from the store, and don't force yourself to go with the cheaper option just because you think buying it from the store would be 'stupid'.

Buying from Ebay is taking a chance. And since it is your wedding dress, are you willing to take it?
If you do, its not gonna take anything away from the experience just because you got a good deal on it.
