Are jet fuel prices dropping too? Will air fare change as a result?

is now the time to buy plane tickets, or is it better to wait and see how low oil prices will fall?

Prices aren't up "only" off of fuel prices as many would like to believe. Many are thinking "gas has gone now, now it's time for plane tickets to also". Tickets have increased because the days of last min. booking people getting the best prices is going to be no longer. You have to book in advance to get better prices.

It used to be where you could book more last min. and the airline would allow you to get better prices to "fill seats", but too many people started doing this. That is why every major domestic airline is in bankruptcy status except for American Airlines. So again these price increases are about fuel yes, but only part of it. People that book in advance will start getting the better prices and I feel unless you have a death or a hospitalized family member in another state which obviously you can never plan for and then the airlines have rates to allow the person to get a reasonable fare, then the ones who book in advance should get better prices instead of those who say I can leave tomorrow or whenever.

So I really would strongly advice booking in advance if you can. Travel is just changing and it is going to take a while for people to fully realize this. People being trained in the way to always just book last min. isn't consumers faults, it is the airlines of course. The only way these airlines are going to start making a profit instead of losses is to increase rates. So those times people got great airfares, be glad for them pretty much.

I know my answer isn't the majority of what people say on here, but the majority on here this isn't there job to look at travel day in and day out. So you decide whose word you prefer to take and best of luck to you in finding a decent fare =)

Yes, fuel prices are index linked to the price of oil and kerosene production costs.
