I don't believe they will take you. Even if you are free of your parents, I think the military has legal age limits. They don't want to be liable for people they think are too young to take care of themselves. Save yourself the cost and hassle of an emancipation procedure by checking with the military first. Talk to a recruiter or check out websites.

No. The earliest you can join is 17 and you have to have parental consent. So I would imagine if you are emancipated you can join at 17. Remember that you do have to finish school. 17 is the age since you can be in the dep (delayed entry program) for only a year and most 17 year olds are still in high school. So if they enlist at 17 between junior and senior year when they graduate they can go. Good Luck!

Parents can sign for you at 17, or a court order emancipating you would allow you join at 17. No court order, no join. If you don't have a high school diploma or a GED, that opens another can of worms. Anyway, right now your best option is, stay in school, graduate, turn 18, join what ya want.

I think you have to be 17 to join the Army, 18 for the others. Why not wait 'til 17 and have parent sign. Then you have both things you want...

In reality, you need to have both parents sign a form. In at least one case I am familiar with in Wisconsin, the Dad signed for both, and an under age person was able to join. The enlistor was aware of this as well!

This is (was) wrong!!! While you want to serve your country (an honerable thing, and I respect you for this), You are under-age and should really wait to become of age!

Bless you and yours for your thoughts. Bless those who serve!

First of all -- DO stay in School, DO Finish your High School Diploma successfully, and then ... with a little bit more time, you can talk to your recruiter about entering the service.

Not until 18, unless you get a parent's permission at 17.

You have to have a high school diploma in order to join any branch of our military, and no!!! They do not accept GED's, although they will help you change your GED into a diploma if your over 18 and that's what you have and you want to join.
