Proposition: The soul is brown.

This proposition is meaningless, since the primary attribute of the term “soul” is unidentified. At best, spiritualists have postulated that a soul is “immaterial”—but this description simply tells us what a “soul” is not, not what a “soul” is, and thus there is no connection established between a “soul” ’s metaphysical nature and any secondary properties that one should wish to attach to it. If a term’s primary attribute is unidentified, we cannot say what attributes can be applied to it or not applied to it, because we are unable to say what it is that it may possess any particular characteristics at all. Consequently, this statement is meaningless.

Several people ask this. Where do we go after Death.

You know there are many people who believe that when people die, they go into the ground and they sleep there till the coming of the Lord. Is that true or isn’t that true, Soul Sleep…?
No, it’s not true at all and it’s a very erroneous doctrine.
James 2:26 says, “As the body without the spirit dead…” Where does that spirit go? 2 Corinthians 5:8 says, “Absent from the body… present with the Lord”. That’s why Paul said, “To die is gain”. Now, when the Lord returns in I Thessalonians 4:16-18, he brings the dead with him to come after the dead, for the dead in Christ rise first. What part does he bring with him? – The spirit that left the body, that’s been there to join the body. There is no soul-sleep in this book.
A lot of people use Hebrews chapter 12, verses 1 & 2, where there is a great cloud of witnesses, and they think that means that they are sitting in the heavenlies watching us and every move we make. But that is not so. The great cloud of witnesses are the great heroes of the faith of chapter 11. And because of the way they lived, we are to follow their example, but they can not look down from heaven and see what is going on in this earth, if they could it would make heaven hell, because they’d see so much heartache, even among their children and grandchildren, etc.
Now, the Bible teaches that there will come a time when we are like Christ. In Acts 15:18 it says, “known unto God are all His works...” And Christ is the 2nd member of the Trinity, and now in His heavenly body, He knows everything about everything, because He is God. That means He is Omniscient, knowing all things about all things. When we are raptured, then we get bodies and minds like His. That’s why David said in Psalms 17:15, “I shall be satisfied when I awaken with your likeness.” And when we see Jesus we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is, I John 3:2. So there’s an hour coming when we get these new bodies and new minds, and then we will be all knowing. And not until then. So nobody in the heavenlies now can see what’s going on.In Luke 15, whenever anyone is converted upon the earth, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over 1 sinner that repents, because the message is relayed to the angels, and the angels relay it throughout the heavenlies. So that if a mother’s son finds Christ, and one for whom she’s prayed for years, there is joy because the message has been related. It’s not because she knows everything, she won’t until she gets that body, the new glorified body of the resurrection. So, I hope that answers the question, because it is exactly what the Word of God teaches. And oh, Jesus is coming soon, and we’ll have that great mind in the near future.

Well, there are all sorts of Christians and all sorts of different interpretations. Some, most I think, believe that there is an immortal part of a person that leaves their body at death, and goes either to a good place called heaven or a bad one called hell. Some believe that the soul is just mortal and is actually the person themself. So when they die they just go back to the dust, in the grave, to await a future resurrection day. They believe the spirit ('nephesh') or breath, goes back to God somehow, figuratively more or less, that is the life-force that made them a living breathing human being. There are probably other ideas too. Some Christians even believe in re-incarnation, though why and how I have never figured out.

There are many Scriptures that help us to see what happens to us when we die.
Animals and people experience the same thing as stated at Ecclesiates 3:19,20--"For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again."
Psalm 146:4--"His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish."
Eccl 9:5--"For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing--
Eccl 9:10--"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."(This also helps us to see that the dead feel neither pain nor pleasure)

What does the Bible teach us about what the soul really is?
Here are some Scriptures to examine:
Genesis 2:7: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Leviticus 5:4: "Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these."
Leviticus 7:20: "But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people."
Ezekiel 18:20: "The soul that sinneth, it shall die."
Revelation 16:3: "And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea."
The Bible is very clear on what the soul is. It is a person, it can swear, it can eat, it dies(it is not immortal), and animals are souls
Yes, you and I are living souls.
Death is our enemy and soon that enemy will be no more--Revelation 21:4. God's Word promises that all those who are sleeping in death, will be brought back to life with the hope of being able to live forever on earth.

On death of the body, The Spirit does not die. But "sleeps" God knows exactly where you are. In the same fashion when we sleep we can go thu 7 or 8 hours with out being aware of the passing of time. So will the sleep of our spirits be. In the next instant (to us) we will be with the Lord. Very much alive, Just as it is your Spirit that is you looking out from your body right now. You will be even more alive then. Because you will not have the restraints of the flesh body you now inhabit.

Eccl. says the dead know nothing. Your breath of life is what goes back to God. When you read in Genesis, God blew into Adams nostrils and he became a living soul. So when you die, your (Spirit) breath of life goes back to God. And on the day of resurrection God will give it back to your soul (Body)which by the way will be perfect.

Close your Eyes, Relax, calm your Thoughts----that is YOU.
YOU will be with GOD once YOU come out of your Body (you, a Spirit, Look just like your Body) IF IF IF you (a Spirit) have been Recreated (Saved, Born-Again) by Accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

Religion cannot Recreate you(a Spirit.)
Religion cannot Save you.

When the body dies, usually the body is buried in the earth. It is the body which is "asleep"; that is why the name for "cemeteries", from the Greek meaning "dormitories".

The Scriptures teach that to be absent from the body is to be with the Lord (Christ). Where is Christ now. In Heaven; interceding for the brethren.

WHAT exactly is with God? All that was and is YOU, except for the body which is laid aside, waiting for the Resurrection.

Remember the repentant thief on Calvary. Jesus assured him "Verily I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise".

Yes of course there is consciousness when you die. You immortal soul will be with God for all eternity if you know Jesus and He knows you. This is just a preparation for that existence. We will be with God and all the Angels in Heaven. Isn't that wonderful? All you have to do is accept Jesus as your personal Savior and ask for forgiveness of your sins...
