Absolutely. How could anyone just stand by and do nothing?

That's never happened, but I can tell you I would try to save him if I could. I remember long ago I was camping with friends at a lake, and as we sat there watching the boaters we saw a man in a small rowboat get swamped by a speedboat that came too close to shore. The man's entire boat went under and he fell out of it before it righted itself.

About this time, while we are all still staring in shock, his wife comes running down the lake screaming that he'd just had a triple bypass 2 weeks ago and shouldn't be swimming at all. All but one of us jumped in to help (the one that didn't was watching the kids in the group). We got him, his boat, his fishing gear and yes, his two six packs of beer back on shore safely.

So I'd say that close to 100% of the people here, no matter their faith or lack of, would help. Tis the nature of us humans.

No one drowns "violently". Drowing is a quiet thing. Thrashing and yelling is just in the movies. Remember that.

Yes!! because I would hope that someone would do the same for me if I was drowning.

Depends. Was he surrounded by sharks? Jellyfish? Hostile dolphins? If not, I would make an attempt to help. If so, I'd probably just be dooming myself as well, and it's not worth the risk.

sounds too religious and hypothetical to answer

you have to "Assume" everything and no correct answer

sounds like religion

would I take a leap of faith into a place with a possible undertow? not without knowing my limits or checking for sharks and sharp rocks first

if anything, I'd ask what to write on tombstone

mine is "pepperoni, and cheese"

I wouldn't try to save him myself because I don't know how to swim ,but I would try to get help somehow.
