Now you don't believe in evolution and you think the earth is 6 000 years old and eveything that ever was once created once coexisted, right?
But you do believe in the existence of coal, oil, and natural gas, right? You know, the stuff you put in your car, your heating oil, etc...
The following site gives a good layman's term explanation of how these things came to be on earth:
http://www.energyquest.ca.gov/story/chapter08.html
But if your a creationist, that widely accepted scientific explanation won't cut it for you: It implies the earth is way older than 6 000 years and that fossil fuels come from animals that have dissapeared a long time ago...
So what is your explanation?

OK. I do get that you can be a Christian without being a literalist. Not all Christians believe that 'every last word as written' nonsense. But what about the others? You take Genesis in its literal sense, and you have to reject not only evolution, but carbon dating, the existence of stars more than 6 000 light years away, not to mention that if you read Genesis carefully, you will find there are TWO stories of the creation. Doesn't that bother you that all of the most brilliant minds we have are coming to the same conclusion and all you have to oppose it is one ancient manuscript whose original version has never been found?!?

Coal oil and natural gas are very simple to explain from a creationist standpoing (that of the literal interpretation of genesis and the age of the earth aroung 6000 years)

Before the flood known in the bible as "Noah's flood" (the one that wiped out the original creation and has left us with what we have now - lots of ocean, little land) there was far more land than there was water. Also when in Genesis it says the earth stood "in the waters and out of the waters" means the earth was created above and below water. Meaning there was a canopy of water overhead creating a greenhouse effect. This greenhouse effect made everything grow bigger. This is why there are fossilized dragonflies found with 50" wingspans, cockroaches fossilized 18" long, huge reptiles (dinosaurs/dragons) and humans 13' tall (some of which are being kept in the basement of the smithsonian in Washington D.C.) and of course plants grew huge (also noted in the fossil record).
I am aware that all of the plants and animals alive today could not make as much coal and oil as there are deposits. The conclusion propogated in schools and media is that it must have taken an enormous amount of time to make these deposits whereas this conclusion is incorrect. It took very little time but there was an enormous amount of foliage and animals which drowned in the deluge and they were burried and compressed as the massive amount of water moved dirt and rocks and everything else on top of the soon to be coal and oil. (and by the way it does not take a long time to form coal and oil, it can be done in the lab in minutes. All that is necessary is the right amount of pressure and heat.

The issue about carbon dating etc. is a whole other issue and I would be happy to discuss it at length if you wish.

I'm a Believer, but I don't Believe everthing Else my Bro.'s and Sis.'s come up with.
I tend to Believe that the Earth is 4 to 5 Billion Years Old. Waiting for one side or the other for some Good Proof one way or the Other.
Hey, maybe we driving around , burning up People in our Gas Tanks too! Hope not, but that Stuff comes from Something.

Let me make it very simple. God made the earth with everything man needed already in place such as oil and gas along with a replenishing process, the death and decay of plants and animals. The earth was made old or one might say mature. Just as man was made as an adult and not a child, the earth was made mature. God gave man a process for replenishing the earth with humans and he gave the earth the ability to continue making oil and gas. He made the stars mature with the ability to form other stars. We all know that process as well. Now isn't it easier to believe God over man. After all He made everything. Through Him all things were made that was made. All we have to do is go back to Genesis. Now;
Can an evolutionist please explain the evolution process of the human eye and all of its complexities.

6,000 years is arbitrary. If anything, it is 6,000 years from Adam. The creation took place in the eternal by an eternal Creator. What is His day consist of? How fast/slow was the earth turning in the beginning? What was involved in the creation process?

As for the Web site. It makes quite a few assumptions. How can they prove that it takes millions of years to create oil, coal and natural gas?

Creationists believe that it was created in the same way that Evolutionists do, just quicker. It doesn't take a whole lot of time to make coal, oil, or natural gas as long as the conditions are right.

Oh, and fossil fuels don't come from "animals". They come from plants.

6000 year old earth is NOT A BIBLICAL POINT OF VIEW. It was derived by a man and others have USED HIS TECHNIQUE to obtain DIFFERENT RESULTS.

Nothing in scripture can be PROPERLY CONSTRUED to yield that result. There are WAY TOO MANY "unknowns."

jedijosh: While it is a common misconception, C14 dating has little to do with the "age of the earth" debate. A different type of radiologic dating is involved. "Carbon-14 dating is a way of determining the age of certain archeological artifacts of a biological origin up to about 50,000 years old. It is used in dating things such as bone, cloth, wood and plant fibers that were created in the relatively recent past by human activities."

Since it has an effective range of ~50,000 years, it is mostly useless in geologic dating. Search the web for "radioactive halos" (or haloes in some reports) which provide a useful method for dating beyond that 50K barrier.

And on the fourth day God created dinosaur bones and made them appear mighty old and cast them deep into the earth. He then cast oil, diamonds and coal into the earth as well. He then created carbon dating and said "It was good."

can oil , coal and natural gas be able to remain under the earth for millions of years under intense pressure?

Well, it's kind of hard for anyone to explain their viewpoint with you telling them what it is.

Your smarta$$ remarks don't make you look intelligent, kiddo, just immature. And you know less about creationist perspectives that you think you do, so that makes you look stupid.

So stop embarrassing yourself and do some research before you try something like this again.

That's an easy one. God did it. Like all the other questions ever.

Don't they ever find it tiresome? Don't they ever need more a reason for anything? Don't they have any curiousity at all?

Doesn't look like it.
