No, it is not a spirit. The child's behavior at that age is shared by most children, in fact. He (or she) has just discovered what a magical and wonderful thing the human imagination is, and is simply experimenting with it.
If it seems the child is doing it to excess, and it is difficult to distract the child, and especially if the child gets very upset when someone attempts to distract him/her, then one should consider speaking to the child's pediatrician. These three things happening together might point towards autism.

Noooooooo, that's a 3 year old being a 3 year old lol.
They all do that, it's practice for socialization later. It's also how they work things out that they are thinking about. My 3 year old talks to her "brother" (she has one older sister, no brothers and no chance of ever having one!!!) who is called by a variety of names including Connor, Jinga, Halla, and Elmo.
Don't fret, it's just the imagination loose and working fine! Enjoy it; listen in if you can without being detected, their little minds are a joy to get into!

thyself?????? It's not even used in the correct context.
I believe that you are very pretentious and simple looking for some arcane explanation to an everyday occurrence. The child is simply talking to itself. There is nothing wrong with that.

I don't believe one could not actually communicate with a spirit but there are few posibilities.
I just hope the 3 yrs old is talking to himself. Usually people who communicates with himself is quite smart.

No. That is a natural expression of their imagination. Some children develop that quicker than others while some do not hit that particular milestone for another year. If you listen to what is being said it probably revolves around things they hear everyday.

Why assume that there must be a supernatural reason, when it's far more likely they just have an imaginary friend? Or that they're just talking to themselves? I do it all the time. Tolkien said, 'always find the most intelligent person in the room to talk to - if that happens to be yourself, so be it.'

He would probably be immitating somebody who he has seen. It is quite natural, they immitate.
Generally they behave like a teacher and scold a person whom he does not like
or
Behaves like a parent and scold the sibling because of non cooperation.
or
He just want to be somebody by his imagination - a film star or some popular TV artist etc.

You are not gonna find out by asking strangers over Yahoo Answers. Trust me. He is three years old though, and probably just has a strong imagination. Sounds like the toddler is just playing.

Three year olds do not yet have the brain capacity in most cases to verbally differentiate between self and others. It's a developemental thing.
