It doesn't matter if he believes in the devil or not. If he is not under the protection of Christ then the devil has free claim to him. He should be scared and so should you, only Christ can stop satan from attacking anyone including me
Here is a little bit about satan, it's biblical so if you don't like the bible then dont' read it.
The English term "Satan" is a transliteration of the Hebrew word satan, which means "adversary."
it was not originally a proper name or a technical term, but came to be used in that way in early Judaism and then in early Christianity. In other words, except for perhaps Job, we do not find it as a proper name in the Old Testament.
The word first appears in some of the later material in the OT, such as Job 1:6-2:7; 1Choronicles 21:1; Zechariah 3:1-2; and occurs as another name for "the devil" in the New Testament (see Mark 3:23;Luke 10:18).
As the Hebrew word satan, it refers to a being that tests, persecutes, tempts, misleads, accuses believers, and, hence, is their nemisis or adversary.
As with many other doctrines (for example, the Trinity), God slowly revealed the details concerning his supernatural enemy to his people. Gods' people probably did not have a full understanding and belief in such a being unitl later in the OT perioid. Even so, it is hard to doubt that God's people, like other ancient Near Eastern peoples, believed in supernatural evil of a personal nature as well as supernatural good.
Adn when we turn to Genesis 3, we find a character, who, though not identified explicitly at that time as Satan, fits that bill. Genesis 3 gives the account of human kinds fall into sin. The one who tempts the woman, then tempts the man to rebel against GOD is the snake. It is hard to doubt the author believed that the powers of darkness were using this creature to purposely mislead Adam and Eve.
Thus it is not surprising to see that the NT makes connection between the snake and Satan explicit (Romans 16:20)
Satan is even viewed as a strong man that binds his captives in Mark 3. But Christ's death on the cross is the decisive victory against satan.
Believe in Him and you can't lose and can't get possessed.

A priest once told me that when you are communicating with God...you enter a realm where the angels, both good and bad communicate, so you must be careful.
One area that brings you closer to God, or a higher level is drugs and disease.
If your friend experienced a temperature of 103 degrees, then perhaps his physical near death condition was exposing him to the outer levels of human communication...and in his case, the devil was most likely after his soul...perhaps ?
By the way, on the one hand it does not matter whether you believe in gravity, gravity will affect you...and in the same way it does not matter if you believe in a religion or not...Religion, God, the angels and the devil are there.
Muslims, Christians and Jews, are all descendants of Abraham...and all three religions have one thing in common...the garden of eden and the devil...

The subconscious mind creates dreams out of symbology that comes not just from our rational beliefs, but our irrational beliefs as well.
If he had a 103F temperature, he had a very high fever. People are known to become delerious with such fevers.
I don't know what kind of disease/fever causes eyes to become pink, but a quick Google search gave one possible explanation. See the link below.

If he is Atheist then the devil already owns him, so why would he send a scary dream that might just knock some faith into the guy?
I would suggest rather he examine what he ate the night before and perhaps he lay off eating spicy foods before bedtime. Either that, or go to church lol.

No such thing as demons or possession. He could probably tell you that. Sounds like he just had a fever - you can have weird dreams when you're sick. He may have blown a few blood vessels in his eyes.

I think that God could have been using this dream to reveal to him his inward nature. I have much respect for you but as a Christian I must answer from a Christian perspective. When man was first created we had the nature of God and were sinless. Then our nature was changed through Adam's disobediance. The Bible says that heaven is God's but the earth he has given to man, and in the book of roman's it says that all of creation is eagerly awaiting Christ's return to end the corruption placed on it. You see, through disobediance adam handed his God-given dominion of the earth to satan and chose to take on a corrupt nature. The Bible goes on to say that Satan is the god of this world and those who haven't been transformed by Christ, these are his (Satan's) children. What do we know about children? They take on the nature of their parents.
Your co-worker may believe that he has lived a good, moral life and that he doesn't need what Jesus Christ has to offer him i.e. an escape from the corrupt nature. But if he has broken one point of the law, he is guilty of the whole thing. In order to accept what Jesus Christ has to offer, he must first offer all that he is to Him and follow His ways and His teachings, acknowlege that Christ is the Lord (master, owner) of his life and believe that God raised Him from the dead.
Then see if his dreams have changed.

Maybe Satan is attacking him, or maybe it is a look into the future for him from God. Maybe a tactic to make him turn towards God. I say that you should have a deep talk with God and tell him you are scared and ask him to show you truth.

This Dream was from GOD.
I had several Dreams (Warning Dreams) BEFOR I accepted Jesus as my Saviour.
I didn't know they (my warning Dreams) were from GOD till I Got Saved and Learned some Spiritual Stuff.
This is not a warning about Physical Death. This is a Warning about Sinning (mine was Drinking Alcohol).
GOD is saying Check yourself out cause there is something in your Life that Might just hurt you very much.
(If I had kept on Drinking, I don't think I would be here today).
This is what I THINK that this Dream Means.
Don't hold me to it, Thanks.
