I am not an atheist, and i am not agnostic.
I believe in god, but I don't believe in organized religion- I believe that organized religion spurs most (or all) of the conflicts that have ever happened in history- so I don't have an actual "religion" in the sense that people say they're catholic or protestant.

Is there a word that would define my religious standing?

There are two prominent views of God’s creation of the cosmos. First, Deism is the belief that God set up the universe, set it in motion, and left it at that. God is an observer, so to speak, Who does not take an active role in the universe He created. The other view is Theism. Theism is the belief that God set up the cosmos as He did in Deism, but maintains an active role in it. God actively intervenes in the lives that He created, in ways that He deems necessary.

Here are 2 quotes:

“Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one.” – Thomas Jefferson

“Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise. During almost fifteen centuries, the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in laity; in both, superstition, bigotry, and persecution.” – James Madison, 4th President of the United States

You didn't say if you believed in Jesus. But if you do, then you are a Christian. I never go to church and probably never will, but still I am a Christian. A Christian is simply one that believes in Christ. Or Jesus which ever name you chose to use.

But it doesn't sound like you are likely to join any church anyway, so it does not matter much. You know that you believe in God and that is all that matters.

Catholic and Protestant are both Christian religions. Some of your answers above are a little confusing. Baptist, Methodist, Mormon, Lutheran, and many others come under the general heading of Christian. Believers in Christ. Although Christianity is often referred to as a religion, in truth it is not a religion in itself. At least not as we speak of the term religion today. Hope this helped.

Jared F beat me to it. You are confused, more so that you are aware of.
Christianity is the religion to have if you are serious. However, don't confuse Christianity with Catholic or Protestant, or any other denomination. But, as soon as you can find anyone that agrees with you just a little-guess what?? you are organized!!!!!
My suggestion to you is to find a church that teaches the Bible and stick with it until you are a mature Christian-then look around.

I would consider you nondenominational, but I could be totally wrong.
I have my own religion, because none of the religions i have looked into appease me.
I believe in God, I believe in treating people how you want to be treated, you don't have to go to church, and it doesn't matter if you are black or white, gay or straight, I believe God loves everyone no matter what!

You can be a deeply spiritual and moral person and not subscribe to any organised religion. So long as you live by a set of moral standards there is nothing you need to explain to anyone. It is acceptable to be ambivalent and say: I'm still considering that point...

Heretic

Heresy, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is a "theological or religious opinion or doctrine maintained in opposition, or held to be contrary, to the catholic or Orthodox doctrine of the Christian Church, or, by extension, to that of any church, creed, or religious system, considered as orthodox. By extension, heresy is an opinion or doctrine in philosophy, politics, science, art, etc., at variance with those generally accepted as authoritative." The study of heresy is heresiology.

you probably did not say in case you believed in Jesus. yet in case you do, then you actually're a Christian. I by no skill bypass to church and oftentimes by no skill will, notwithstanding though i'm a Christian. A Christian is without difficulty man or woman who believes in Christ. Or Jesus which ever call you chosen to employ. notwithstanding it does no longer sound like you're liable to develop right into a member of any church besides, so it does now no longer topic plenty. you comprehend that you in hardship-free words sense in God and that is all that concerns. Catholic and Protestant are each and every Christian religions. a number of your concepts above are slightly complicated. Baptist, Methodist, Mormon, Lutheran, and so on come below the regularly occurring heading of Christian. Believers in Christ. notwithstanding Christianity is through and tremendous widely used as a faith, if actuality study that's no longer a faith in itself. a minimum of now no longer as we communicate of the time period faith at latest. wish this helped.

Nondenominational would be the most accurate description, providing that you accept Jesus Christ as you Savior & are baptized. There are a lot of people in your position. Christ did not come to bring us religion, only Salvation !

It's safe to say you're a spiritual believer. I too am offended by the "earthbound bureaucracy" that poses as religion.
