If we're talking Spanish, it actually means "What happened." Paso is the past tense. Que Pasa with an A is what's happening. Que Paso with an "O" is in the past tense. (Not sure on the rules if it's Italian).

Que paso? is the way we greet each other in Mexico
( colloquially ), it means what happened and its the past tense of que pasa, which translates to what happens? or what´s going on?, what´s up? is better translated as que hay? or que hay de nuevo? since the literal translation does not make much sense in spanish, we also use que onda? what´s the wave?, on the funny side we ( men ) also use que pedo? which means what fart? or what the fart is going on?
