Do not avoid the things you like doing because you used to enjoy them while smoking. Coffee, and drinking are two times when most people want to light up. I quit cold turkey and did not avoid drinking and such. It was difficult but soon its doable. Just dont smoke. Its easy to give in when youve been drinking, its easy to blame it on the alcohol. Dont give in to the urge. You, Im sure, wanted a cigarette first thing in the morning but you still get up dont you? It will become just as easy with everything else. Just give it time and dont give in.

I was also faced with being sorely tempted when I quit, I did choose the path of pretty much abstaining for a while and devoted myself to healthy activities, and when I was comfortable being a non-smoker I was able to drink with no problems, which didn't really take that long
good for you for quitting!! it's hard - try to fill your life with new things - you have purged a bad thing, now get a good thing. Once again personal experience, I started filling my place with plants, and soon had a nice healthy green garden, all very happy to be smoke free :)

if you have just quit smoking and if you're ever going to start back you gonna do it when you have a beer or a cup of coffee. the first thing you weanna do when you have either one is to light up a smoke. so now you have been warned .

Carry something to stick into your mouth, with a little flavor to it. Like minted toothpicks. This way you grab for a toothpick instead of cig while drinking your beer. Have fun and dont sit next to smokers while you are trying to quit. No sense in going back to it once you beat this urge while drinking.

Don't drink Beer, if you've quit smoking maybe its time to change what you drink. When I quit I had the same problem, so now I drink vodka and I don't associate vodka with smoking so I don't need to have the cigarette. Hope this helps. Good luck.

When i quit i had a really weird problem with clubbing and not smoking -- it was fine if my friends smoked but i wanted to beat up strangers and steal their cigarettes. If this happens to you i don't suggest you beat anyone up.
If you are feeling weak before you drink let your friends know that an unconditional no is appreciated if you start begging.
Good luck!

I quit successfully 22 years ago. You have to not go anywhere where nicotine addicts are allowed. In NY state that is easy because smoking is only allowed out by the Dumpster, but back then, I just quit going to bars.
