I'm against it because it is still a life, it has a heart beat after only 9 days! And nine days after conception, chances are you don't even know you are pregnant! Therefore it is killing a life, when that life has every right to live and be given the life it deserves.

Abortion MUST continue to be a choice for a pregnant girl or woman. It is just wrong for any government or any group of people to think they have the right to make that decision for anyone else.
I tried for seven long years to have a baby before I had my son. He was and is very precious to me. Because of circumstances being the way they were, I ended up being a single mother and it is far, far harder than I could have imagined. Pregnancy too is a very big deal, physically and emotionally. Should all that be forced upon someone because of unwanted conception? No. Never.
Yes, contraception is preferable, but sometimes it doesn't work, and some pregnancies are the result of rape, molestation. In those cases, forcing a girl or woman to carry a baby to term is horribly cruel.
If a pregnant person chooses adoption, fine. But that decision may come back to haunt her later, in a variety of ways. A choice for some, yes, but not for all.
For the people who say an early fetus is a human being - that is your opinion, not mine. Before I had my son, when I was in fertility treatment, I suffered an early miscarriage. It was devastating because I had wanted a child so badly. I grieved for the loss of the potential child -- I did not lose a baby. The zygote lost its potential of becoming a baby and that was sad for me under the circumstances.
Here's an added bonus for you religious zealots who want to force your beliefs on others: remember the phrase from the Bible that goes "whence He shall come for the quick and the dead." Let's look at that for a moment. We all know what dead is, but what is quick? The quickening of a child in the womb is known in today's society as when the mother feels the baby move. When is that? Somewhere around the fourth month, usually. So given the spectrum of existence as being from quick to dead, that leaves out the first trimester of pregnancy.
Abortion is a very emotionally-charged issue and has been for some time. But why? Are there so few of us left we're worried about extinction of the human race? Hardly - overpopulation is far more of a problem and the way the population has been increasing, we are in big trouble and the situation only continues to worsen.
So again, why is it such a hot topic? Those of us for reproductive choice are not trying to tell pregnant people what they should or shouldn't do. We say there should be an option. A girl or woman should never be a slave to her reproductive system.
The real reason abortion is violently contested? The religious fanatics who think somebody gave them the right to tell other people what to do feel a holy justification, even go so far as terrorism, to force others into obedience.
Remember the ideal upon which this nation was conceived (pun intended)? Freedom of religion. Freedom to choose. Freedom. That's what we believe in.

I am a mother of three. Personally, abortion is not for me. I am not AGAINST it though nor am I FOR it. I do believe it is an option- I believe if a woman is raped she is entitled to have an abortion as she did not spread her legs to allow that to happen to her. I believe that if there are major health risks for mom or baby that you should have a right to do so. Other wise I think you should give baby up for adoption if you can't take care of him/her. I love my children with all of my heart and only one of them was planned. I had my first when I was 14 so I suppose if I were into abortion I'd have done it back then. But she's a baurtiful little 7 y/o now. :) I don't "react" when I hear someone has had an abotion/is going to because it's none of my business. Can't change the world, ya know? I think that if you have sex without protection and get pregnant you should own up to that responsibility- but who really cares what I think? No one.

I am very saddened whenever I hear of abortion. Someone never had the chance to experience life and all the beauty it has to offer. I strongly disagree with it because I don't think that anyone has the right to take another persons life. We do not live in a third world country. We know what causes pregnancy and we have free clinics all over to help you prevent one. What about in the case of rape someone would ask? There again, is that child responsible? No, they are just unfortunately the consequence of a terrible act. There is counseling to help you through the emotional problems and many loving people who would gladly raise that beautiful soul. What if your own mother had decided to abort you one has to ask. Would you have been better off? I don't think so. Life, with all its ups and downs is a beautiful gift. As a wife and a mother or three, I would not have wanted to miss out on this opportunity!

I also hate abortion. I have two little boys that I adore, and my husband and I are open to any more children that the Lord has in store for us, whenever His good timing is. The reason that I hate abortion is because it is killing a person and all people are created in the image of God, which is also why murder is wrong. I know that some people try and say that a baby in utero is not a "person" yet, but when I was pregnant with both of my boys, I had ultrasounds at 7 weeks and both times I was astonished to see and hear their little hearts beating away on the ultrasound screen. Now, if it isn't really "living", how can it have a beating heart? It just IS a living person, and killing it is just muder, plain and simple.
What is kind of ironic is that people in America look at China and talk about their horrible human rights policies that encourage infanticide, but isn't that funny? We Americans have legalized infanticide!
Of course, it's not okay for people who aren't married or committed to a family situation to "fool around" without protection. It's very irresponsible and just wrong. Sex is for marriage and should be saved for that ultra-special relationship. Many people, myself included, however, make that mistake and don't wait, which is too bad. I wish more people talked about abstinence until marriage as a viable alternative and I wish I had known about that as a teenager!

I'm not a mom nor am I pregnant or near pregnant but I do love kids. I used to be prolife because my super religious mother was like that. And I'm against murder. But I don't see a problem with abortion in certain situations and for the most part it should be done as soon as a decision as been made. ASAP

I hate when people...use abortion as there birth control..its ridiculous...i think every abortion place should have a reason why ou want the abortion a 10 page essay and you need to speak to a therapist i don't think anyone should be allowed to have more then one abortion in a life time...even for medical reasons....if its going to kill u...u should of used a rubber...if it broke the babies meant to be in your life and god has had this figured out some how some way.....it makes me sick to think all these girls are using that as a fall back plan...hm if i have fun tonight ill just abort it in 4 weeks? that sounds good...and you know i don't feel abit sorry for the people who's had abortions and then decided later on in life they do want children and there having a hard time to conceive because you know what...god gave them that chance the first time around...well they say its incest or rape...well that's 1 percent or all abortions you know the most comment one is ....wants to postpone childbearing...well you know i think they should just make them remove all there insides if they just want to postpone....its completely ridiculous!!!

I am 100% AGAINST abortion. You are absolutely right! If you are going to go out and have sex with someone you should use a condom *or do what I am doing and wait until you are married* because if you get pregnant then it is your own fault!
There are times when women dont really have a choice *like for instance if you are raped* but even then you should NEVER have an abortion. I am only 15 years old, but I would take care of my child and love it the way that my parents love and care about me.
If you are not going to be responsible for a child that you are carrying then you could always give the baby to an adoption agency I suppose... but I'm still against that....

I'm in my 5th month, and I'll never understand how anyone can feel that little person wiggle inside of themselves and not feel a love deeper than they've ever known for the little person moving around inside of them.
I'm not for abortion. But I'm pro-choice. Why? It's a personal decision. I could never do it to my own body, or to my child. If someone else can do it, fine.
If the government starts legislating what we can and can't do with our bodies, it opens up a nasty can of worms that we'll never be able to close again.
You can't have an abortion.
You can't have a haircut unless your hair is longer than 3" below your armpit.
Men can't be circumsized.
Women can't get tattoos.
Men can't have pierced ears.
Think about it. Where would it end?

I am a woman, a mother, a grandmother, and I was a foster mother to numerous children. I am also STRONGLY pro-choice. I believe that every woman has the right to control her own body and her reproductive destiny. I also believe that every child born should be wanted and loved. There are 500,000 children in the US foster care system annually and far too many abused and neglected children suffering in this world already. It is far more humane to abort a fetus than to bring it into the world and then mistreat it. Now I ask you, what have YOU done to help the living, breathing children in your area?
