I have a black cat and he has been nothing but joy and no bad luck. He's the sweetest cat we've ever had. I know that cats (in general) became associated with being evil around medieval times, but then were thought of as good when they helped wipe out the bubonic plague. Then when all the witchcraft and punishment of witches came along the black cat was associated with them and thought of as evil. But that's just superstitions of people.

It is a cat. Pets have been clinically proven to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and improve health by their very presence, despite the littlerbox and other nuiscanse things that cats do to add chores to your life.
I've had three black cats at various times in my life, and they're not really any different from other cats.
Though one got eletrocuted while chasing birds on the power poles, so I'd have to say she was a little unlucky.

Everyone has their little superstitions, but allow scientific study a louder voice.

I have a black cat as well, and he is the biggest sweetie. No bad luck here. Check out the photos in my 360 profile.

If he's only 14 weeks, he's going to play with anything that twitches, our new kitten does this, only he has the other cats to occupy him.

Where I'm from it's lucky for a black cat to cross your path. Never heard of black cats being unlucky before.

Actually I have come to think of it - it's from the whole witches inquisition period where old women who had cats were supposed to be witches. The cat was called a familiar and was a demon in disguise (supposedly). I live 2 miles from where the last women in the UK to be burnt as a witch was burned.

They are good luck...I have three black cats! do you know how your cat lost its tail? Could that be the reason why it is aggressive? You deserve all the luck you will get because you have given a home to a special little cat.

Black cats have always symbolised luck. I remember watching an American cartoon many years ago which represented a black cat as bringing bad luck and it confused me for years - I now realise it was just the Americans getting it wrong, again. Bless em.

It's only a cat, don't go mistreating it because of some dumb myth!
there is no such thing as a black cat being unlucky, that's bullshit!
i suggest you be careful, this time of the year, people are going around killing black cats claiming that they are unlucky.
I swear, people think that anything black is bad luck, people find an excuse to mistreat anything black!

My 2 black cats, Millie and Cookie, are bad luck for my house as theyve shredded all signs of wallpaper from most rooms, and for my hamster (who died on monday) as they kept leaping on his cage! But I cant say I personally have been made unlucky, unless you count all my clothes being ruined from their claws lol!! Bless, 14 weeks old, so tiny! My 2 are 6 months old now and they seem to be growing up every day!xx

Black cats have an unfair reputation in old horror stories. I don't know that your luck has turned around because of the cat but then that is what coincidence is for.
