Marriage requirement vary from state to state. You will have to look it up for your own state (you can do a search online and probably find the information you need "marriage requirements " or "marriage license "
In Nebraska there is no waiting period to receive your marriage license nor is there a waiting period to apply it. There is a $15 fee, and both people must be present when applying for the license and have valid ID. Blood tests are rarely required, physicals are not required, and the license is good for one year from the date of purchase. If you havent gotten married in that time you only need re-apply.

Call the local court house and find out exactly what you need. They will tell you what is required to get married there. Usually you may need a copy of your birth certificate or some form of identification and the required fees, and marriage application. Then after all that, you get married by a justice of the peace.
good luck with it all. It really is a simple thing to do.

Go down to your local courthouse - and there will be a "Marriage License" department. (You should find it in the phone book under County). You need to get a marriage license application and fill it out. I believe it runs a little $$ and you turn it in (even while you stand there), you need proof of ID, etc. I believe then you can get married the 24 hours later. Some states require a blood test (or suggest one - certainly doesn't hurt).

Search for your local government's website (if they have one) and find all that information online. I had friends that were just getting married and need to get their license and I found all that information online for Monroe County, Michigan. Maybe you can find yours too. Good Luck and Congratulations!
