The term Judaism comes from the Greek Ioudaismos, which was a label created by Greek-speaking Jews to differentiate their religious belief from their pagan Greek neighbors.

Judaism is monotheistic, which means that Jews believe that just a single god exists. Evidence suggests that the early Jews were monolatrous, which means that they followed a single god, but accept that other gods exist. Characteristics of this god include: creator of the universe, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. Jews also believe that they, as a people, are specially chosen by God to keep his commandments.

Judaism is a revealed religion, which means that its tenets have been "revealed" to humans through communication with the supernatural. Judaism has also been described as an ethical religion, in that ethical rules constitute an important focal point of belief and practice. Rabbi Hillel was once asked if he could explain the Torah while standing on one foot, and Hillel is reported to have said: "What is hateful to you, don't do unto your neighbor. The rest is commentary. Now, go and study."

Maimonides 13 principles of faith state
1. Belief in the existence of the Creator, be He Blessed, who is perfect in every manner of existence and is the Primary Cause of all that exists.
2. The belief in G-d's absolute and unparalleled unity.
3. The belief in G-d's noncorporeality, nor that He will be affected by any physical occurrences, such as movement, or rest, or dwelling.
4. The belief in G-d's eternity.
5. The imperative to worship Him exclusively and no foreign false gods.
6. The belief that G-d communicates with man through prophecy.
7. The belief that the prophecy of Moses our teacher has priority.
8. The belief in the divine origin of the Torah.
9. The belief in the immutability of the Torah.
10. The belief in divine omniscience and providence.
11. The belief in divine reward and retribution.
12. The belief in the arrival of the Messiah and the messianic era.
13. The belief in the resurrection of the dead.

There are a couple biblical holidays one of which is going on right now Sukkot (we eat and sleep in booths), Rush Hashuna (New year day of judgement) and Yom kippur (day of atonement where we fast) were within the last month. Passover (only eat unleavened food) in the spring and 50 days later Shevout (aniversary of recieving the torah). And the most importiant holiday every friday night to saturday Shabbat.

The prophets especially King David and Moses were great leaders. It is also thought that there is a leader of every generation. The last leader is probably the Rabbi who the Chabad movement came from but he

Oy, such a complicated question...

There are so many holidays - and each one so rich with symbolism and spiritual and historical significance that you could write several volumes on each. I would refer you to Judaism 101 at http://www.jewfaq.org - this should have exactly what you're looking for. You'll also find some thought-provoking articles at http://www.aish.com and http://www.simpletoremember.com.

What I will post here, however, are the "Thirteen Principles" of Judaism, as outlined by Maimonides. Though not codefied in this form until the Middle Ages, these ideas have been the cornerstone of all Judaism for millenia (note that the use of the term "perfect faith" is misleading, as "faith" is an oversimplified translation of the Hebrew term "emunah," which entails all kinds of connotations in Western thought that aren't really applicable - "emunah" really means something closer to "faithfulness." But for in order to avoid a whole other lengthy discussion not really relevant to the topic at hand, the simpler rendering of "faith" is used below):

1. I believe with perfect faith that G-d is the Creator and Ruler of all things. He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.

2. I believe with perfect faith that G-d is One. There is no unity that is in any way like His. He alone is our G-d He was, He is, and He will be.

3. I believe with perfect faith that G-d does not have a body. physical concepts do not apply to Him. There is nothing whatsoever that resembles Him at all.

4. I believe with perfect faith that G-d is first and last.

5. I believe with perfect faith that it is only proper to pray to G-d. One may not pray to anyone or anything else.

6. I believe with perfect faith that all the words of the prophets are true.

7. I believe with perfect faith that the prophecy of Moses is absolutely true. He was the chief of all prophets, both before and after Him.

8. I believe with perfect faith that the entire Torah that we now have is that which was given to Moses.

9. I believe with perfect faith that this Torah will not be changed, and that there will never be another given by G-d.

10. I believe with perfect faith that G-d knows all of man's deeds and thoughts. It is thus written (Psalm 33:15), "He has molded every heart together, He understands what each one does."

11. I believe with perfect faith tha G-d rewards those who keep His commandments, and punishes those who transgress Him.

12. I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah. How long it takes, I will await His coming every day.

13. I believe with perfect faith that the dead will be brought back to life when G-d wills it to happen.

---

I hope this helps.
