According to Dr. Arnold Nerenberger from the American Institute of Public Safety, two billion acts of aggressive driving, or "road rage," occur each year in the United States. In addition, the lack of traffic safety results in millions of crashes each year, taking the lives of an estimated 40,000 Americans at a cost to the public of $160 billion per year. In view of these figures, what do you think should be done to combat road rage and aggressive driving?

All drivers should be issued firearms with their driver's licenses. This way no one will be at a disadvantage. It would encourage every one to be reasonable rather than getting their a$$e$ shot off.

In a city, when someone becomes upset, ignore them. IF you caused the problem, mouth "I'm sorry". Most people will accept an apology. DO NOT react with aggressiveness....that might get you killed.

When I am out on the interstate or other fast track roads I watch the traffic. When a large group of cars catch to me I let them ALL get passed and then I will run between the groups. If you will notice, on an interstate there will be groups of cars running together. Stay out of those groups. Let them go on and do their own thing. Get in between the groups and you will be a LOT safer and also away for 99% of the road rage. Good luck. Pops

Do you ever get mad when traffic flows along nicely? Of course not. What makes driving suck? Other morons on the road that have NO business behind the wheel! But what would happen to the economy if the state didn't give licenses to complete idiots? Traffic would flow smoother and we wouldn't use as much gas, lowering gas tax income for the state. Fewer taxes from the sale of cars, tires and accessories would come in as well. Don't forget all the repair shops would go out of business from fewer accidents, traffic cops would be bored, lawyers wouldn't be making six figures on court cases, and insurance companies would go belly up. So the safety and well being of the general public still takes a back seat to making money, just like you voted for.

In our modern world, it's common to see some road rages or bullies or aggressive drivers dominating the roads. No matter
how much time and money you spend on it, you can't wipe out
these road bullies completely.
There are some things you can do while driving on the road to avoid them. If you see road bullies on the road, you can:
1. drive carefully and don't get near them, try avoiding eye
contact;
2. slow down, pull aside and let them over-take you. Don't
be physical with them if they show vulgar signs or shout
abusive words to hurt you. Be patient and restraint yourself;
3. write down their car registration numbers, the date, time,
place and a brief description of things that happened. Go
to nearest police station and make a report.
If we all think rationally and observe safe conduct in driving, we
can reduce the problem of road rage or bully on the roads.

.In major cities use public transportation. Buses and subways are usually safe from road rage. Or, people need to take chill pills when they get in their "shells." Give yourself more time to get where you are going and take a less traveled route to get there. I figure a big city is a nice place to visit every few years but would hate to live in one. Too much testosterone jammed into too small a space, testosterone being applied to males and females alike in this case.

I believe that lowering the speed limit would curb most of the aggressive driving and be safer, plus save millions annually. Raise speeding fines, and treat those that speed more than 15 mph over the posted speed, as lethal weapons, and confiscate their vehicles.

limit the size and horsepower of every car and truck- no one needs a hummer or dodge ram unless they are towing a building. if all vehicles were roughly the same size and horsepower and incapable of high speed, it wouldn't matter how fast any one was driving. change gun laws so they aren't so easy to get. stop glorifying street racing through tv and video games. make driver's ed mandatory. for repeat offenders, a trip to the morgue to see the bodies of accident victims.

Don't contribute and learn defensive driving skills. The idiots and aggressive nitwits will always be with us. Just stay out of their way and don't encourage them by responding.
