Last month my period was exceptionally light, and it only lasted 3 days. I got my "period" on time this month although I'm never quite regular. Usually they last 5 days or so (but only really bleed for 2 maybe 3 days), and I get cramps for a day. I bleed heavy and light depending on the day. This month I had cramps so severe I doubled over in pain for hours, then I bed heavy, really heavy for almost week! The thing that concerned me was that I wasn't really bleeding blood, it was more like mucus. I did go to the doc and she didn't say much, offered to give me a pregnacy test, but if I was miscarrying I didn't want to know. I have sex regularly, but I only use spermicide, so pregnacy isn't something that is entirely impossible. Please no stupid comments, this is something that's just really bothering me. Thanks for those who take the time to answer, I truly appriciate it!

I had my period in may 2005 and it was a normal period. But then 4 days later i started to bleed again (not heavy, no clots) and my stomach & back hurt so badly also i was so tired.
This wasn't normal for me but my husband and my mom had me believing it was just another period so that was burnt into my head that - that was happening. But after six days of the pain and the bleeding ( from red to light red to brown) i went to the er.
They told me i was pregnant.. I was so shocked. I was 5 weeks along according to the blood tests but when they done an ultrasound on me i had already miscarried. It was a sad and awful thing to go through (body and mind).. I didn't even know i was pregnant at all.
They put me in overnight on the maternity floor of all places for me to hear other peoples babies crying. It was awful for me. But you know the next day i wasn't hurting or bleeding. So if i hadn't of gone to the ER i would not have known i was pregnant let alone miscarried.
The very next month i started my period when it was due.
A pregnancy though can show you are pregnant after you have miscarried. On the instructions in a preg. test kit it says if you have had a miscarriage or given birth within the last 8 weeks it can give you a false positive.
It does sadden, hurt me to know that if i hadn't of miscarried i would have a 9 month old baby right now. I did name the baby though (Jessie) and i will never forget about it as long as i live.
However i do have a son, he is five years old and i am so thankful that i have him.
I would want to know though if i was pregnant even if it did end in a miscarriage.
If you did miscarry, you need to be checked cause if the fetus wasnt completely expelled from your body it can set up an infection.
I didn't have to have anything done like a D&C or nothing.
I am sorry if this did happen to you cause it isn't something i would wish on my worst enemy.
Good luck

Usually a miscarriage early on is very much like a heavy period. It starts with spotting, followed by cramping and then heavier bleeding. Along with the blood you will also pass the "sac" the baby is in. It looks like heavy clotting (dark, stringy, blood) or tissue. Doctors think that many women have miscarriages and don't know it, and in fact, the second line of defense for the pill is that should you happen to get pregnant, the hormones in the pill cause a miscarriage that most women wouldn't recognize they are having.
My husband and I have been using a natural form of birth control for a while (not the rhythm method and not the temperature method) that you might find helpful (since you are relying entirely on spermicide). Look on-line for "Love and Fertility" by Mercedes Arzu Wilson.

It feels very much like bad period cramps, front and back, maybe with some vaginal discomfort. With a miscarriage, there is a tendency for mild to very heavy hemmorrhaging. Clumps bigger than a walnut is cause for concern. With my second miscarriage, I thought it was my period, but I was going through 2 or 3 tampons-superplus absorbancy-in an hour. The second day, I had a really bad cramp while on the toilet, and pushed out blood and clumps that filled up the toilet bowl-and didn't bleed any more after that. I was about 3-5 weeks along. I didn't go to the doctor, but I don't recommend not going to the doctor. I think only by the grace of God I'm okay.

It sounds like it may very well have been a miscarriage. The heavy bleeding and intense cramping is what I experienced with my first miscarriage, but I was almost 12 weeks when I lost the baby. If you feel instintively this could have been a miscarriage, it probably was. We have a way of knowing these things in our hearts.

When you miscarry You will bleed alot, you will have blood clots, you will fill a maxi pad within 20 minutes, and some people also have different symptoms like a fever.

Well, it does sound like a miscarriage. I had one and I know how painful they are. But you said you did not want to know and you wouldn't let the doctor check you. So, if you really want to know you need to go back to the doctor.

You said" but if I was miscarrying I didn't want to know. I have sex regularly, but I only use spermicide...."
So are you selective about what you will want to know about your body? If you have to be in the dark about your body and natural functions (good or bad) then perhaps you are not ready for intercourse.

I would say get the test. If you can not afford the one at the doctors office get an over the counter EPT test. if it shows positive(pregnant) then you would at least know your next course of action.
