I had asked my husband over a month ago to take the window unit out of our bedroom. We have changed things around and now the boys have that room It is cold up there and it is because the window unit is letting cold air in. I went up there to take it out by myself ( because he is not here tonight) and It fell out the window it is dented. will it still work or is it toast?

Chances are good that it will still work. Many AC units have the inner workings mounted on rubber bushings to reduce noise and vibration, and to survive transit from the factory.

Just plug it in and see if it still works. When storing it, keep it in an upright position (with the same orientation as if it were still in the window).

no way to know until someone opens it up and checks, it may just be the casing dented , it may have also cracked the coil, was there any fluid leaking from it ? was there frost on the unit after it dropped ? before throwing it out have someone inspect it

probably still works... how far did it fall? just a dent should not be a problem...plug it in and check it out. Why did your husband take it out... 10 minutes tops
