i DON'T THINK ANYONE CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION. IT IS NOT UP TO US WHETHER OR NOT SOMEONE GOES TO HEAVEN; IT IS GOD'S DECISION. SO UNLESS ONE OF YOU IS GOD, BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHO IS COMMITTING SINS.

A lot of people who truly believe the word of God will say that the suicidal won't live on. I know suicide is a serious issue, and I honestly can't believe that a just God wouldn't allow a person to live on in heaven, as they were obviously facing troubled times and made a mistake with a permanent solution for their problems. I suppose no one who is living can know the real answers, but from what I've come to understand about death, is that even with a quick death, there are moments before a person can be declared actually dead, in which the person is faced with spiritual questions. What I'm getting at is that someone could hate God until the last moments on their death bed, and in those last seconds of passing on, if accepting God in their hearts, they will live on. God is forgiveness, and I see suicide as a huge mistake, but what someone feels in those last seconds before crossing over is what allows them to be forgiven and free. I believe God gives us life though as the most precious gift. I don't know your situation, perhaps you're just asking out of curiosity, or because your dealing with a loss. If suicide is ever a passing thought though, just remember that life is a gift that is not to be thrown away. It can be hard, it can be a test, and for many problems there often aren't easy answers. God has the answers to everything though, he just gives them in His time, not always ours.

In order for a person to commit a mortal sin,
1. the person must commit a very serious act,
2. know that the act is wrong, and
3. commit that act of his or her own free will.

So let's look at a person who commits suicide:

1. Is it a serious act - yes
2. Does the person who commits this act know it is wrong - probably
3. IIs tyhe person who commits suicide doing it of their own free will? If the person is very depressed or under extreme psychological pressure (being threatened with torture) or sacrifices his or her life for that of others, the answer may be "No".

Suicide is not always a sin.

My youth group just had a service about that topic. Here's what my pastor had to say: suicide is a sin, but he said it doesn't send you to hell. Of course you will have to stand before God and tell Him why you did it, but if it's a sin like everything else, there is no reason He wouldn't forgive us if we repented and sincerely asked. Keep in mind you also have to have accepted Jesus as your savior in order to get to heaven...
Sometimes i wonder the same thing - I'm still figuring it all out. But I hope what he had to say helps :)

Probably, because anyone without faith is condemned and to commit suicide one must have little faith that God is guiding their life.

The only exception is probably in the state of military affairs, that is when committing suicide would be upholding a sworn duty to some authority.

I've planned to on each of the times I tried. Biblically there is no suggestion that Saul missed out. Judas' problem was the rejection / loss of faith in Jesus all sufficient blood. It is not the unforgivable sin, i.e. blasphemy of the Spirit, as far as anyone knows. I've got a doctorate in ministry and decades of experience and haven't read anything to the contrary.

A person driven to suicide is driven by the evil side to do so. BUT you do not know the relationship this person had with the Lord or what this persons last word might have been just before suicide. He may have asked forgivness just before passing, in that case i believe God is faithful and just to forgive that person

i never try to push my religious/spiritual beliefs on anyone....however, i believe that the person must keep "coming back" again until he/she "get's it right"...in other words, completes the life task he/she left unfinished. i was raised catholic, and for a long time believed unbaptized babies (purgatory) and people who committed suicide went to hell; as a "recovering catholic" i no longer believe there is truth to that. some people are either in so much pain, or simply no longer want to be here. i do not believe they go to hell, but that he/she will "come back" again.

No, they don't go to heaven or hell. they are reincarnated through the Left Door.

So, committing suicide is like hitting a big RESET BUTTON.

People who commit suicide are either out of their minds, or in so much pain that they couldn't take living anymore. Why would God punish either?
