I understand the excitement of getting your first tattoo, but I would wait till you get older. When making the decision, ask yourself, "Will I like this when I'm 30, 40, or even 50?" And be original in what you get, Angel wings, I've seen them on too many people, sit down, be creative and do up your own design, that way you can say it's all yours, and no one else has it.

I'm with everyone else. Wait until your older. I am 27 and I just got my first tattoo a week ago. I'm glad I waited. But if you must I suggest you put it somewhere discreet. You don't want a tattoo you can't hide if need be.
Absolutely not on you lower back. Everyone has one there and it is so skanky. Not on the ankle either. Anything on the lower leg is distasteful. I like your idea of the angel wings on the shoulder blades because it's unique to you... You don't see that everyday. Another good spot is on your side(very painful though). That's where I just got mine.
Whatever you decide good luck.
If you'll notice all the people telling you to get one on your lower back are those who have them there and are too afraid to admit they made a mistake. Tramp Stamps, that's what they are.

I would wait until you are 18 or even better 20 yr.s old to get a tattoo. I really feel that you will probably regret something that you get now. I speak from experience - My best friend got one on her lower back when she was your age and at 22 yrs. old now she regrets it because lower back tattoos are well very played out, every girl who has a tattoo has one there on the lower back and there too many jokes to count (many sexual) about having one down there. Don't do it. If you still want it when you are 20 then go ahead, but remember it will be there forever.

Alright, no one can make you do anything, but I suggest waiting. I encourage you to design your tattoos until you feel that you're ready (after you're legal).
Well, anyway, I honestly think that if you are going to go with angel wings on the back, they should span on your whole back. The lower back is a very painful spot, and not flattering to women's curves. Especially the horizontal ones, they lack accentuation and make hips look wider. Ankles are a good spot, also, but because of the tendons and nerves, are very painful. Remeber to get something that is easily covered up, at least until you know what career field you are entereing, and if you can show tattoos are not! Also, Just keep your decisions of what you get tattooed to you. Tattoos should be well though out, so later, you aren't desperate to get them removed.
Like I said, keep designing your tattoos and wait until you're ready. I waited, and drew mine out for years before I turned 18. I am very happy I did that! :-)
Good Luck, girl!

I am a young professional in real estate. I have 5 tattoos now & my 1st was on my lower back. The pain factor is next to nil & it is a nice sensible place for your first. I would also suggest reading a book called the tattoo encyclopedia by Teresa Green. It has thousands of tattoo meanings which will help you decide on a design.

I wouldn't ask anyone what they suggest.. I got my first tattoos at 18 they were on my wrists, then my half sleeve, then my chest...etc etc...you decide what you want and where you think it would look best. You have to wear it...no one else does...just remember that. Now, I am probably the least critical when it comes to tattoos, all of my friends have them, and I would never knock someone for what they want....the angel wing thing is pretty nice, but don't get a butterfly, or a coy fish...or a rose...its so played out. Get something that is totally unique, you'll love it. My half sleeve was drawn by me, and given to my artist to replicate as best he could....everytime I look at it I know it was created by me...and it makes it all the better! Good luck!

I would personally start with the one on the ankle. Because this is a time in your life where you still need to the able to cover them, this would be an ideal spot. Plus, tattooing on the bone hurts the most and I plan to get the two on my ankles before anything else just so that I get the roughest ones out of the way ahead of time.
That's just me though.

You should wait till your 18. Don't rush into any tat without really planning it (placement, style, design, size, artist, meaning, reason). It's a big decision & one that stays with you forever. However, my suggestion is this think about what you plan on doing for your future. In other words will it be acceptable in that trade. Most employers get the first impression by what they see then what they say followed by experience. Do you even know what you want to do when you grow up yet?

since you are 16 and so am i and would really like a tattoo too it is a very big decision and you should find out by yourself hat you ould like for your self let it be meaning ful and have somethign to do with your self. but if you go ahead i would suggest your first tattoo being on your lower back. the triangle just above your buttcrack would be nice but all the place's that you want them in they are right on the bone so they are goign to be equally painful. good luck though

I let my daughter get her 1st one at 16. I told her to get it some place she could show it off, but wouldnt hinder any clothes she might want to wear, and was easy to cover up for futur jobs and in case she ever did regret it, she could cover it up. She went with her ankle... I talked her our of her shoulders and upper back becuase she may not want to show off her ink at her prom or wedding day if she decides to go with an open back dress. Your too young to have to worry about that stuff.. but when the day comes, be glad you at least gave it a little thought. and go to a professional.. you dont want to be anybodies guieni pig or practice skin. make sure they have 7-10 yrs experience and are licenced in your stateor with t he board of health. Check out the National Tattoo association web site for a proffesional in your area ( I have 11 large pieces, and a few award winning pieces too)
