That is the most realistic sentence that I have ever seen in this country. I believe that the answer is because they are complete idiots

americans are bickering over religion? have you noticed what is going on in the rest of the world my friend? other countries are having wars, genocides , mass murders and killings over religion. there are countries in the world where being of different religion means you're life is at risk. maybe you should fly over to Sudan, Israel or Iran sometime and you'll get a nice wake up call.

Maybe people don't want to see that their country is falling apart.
But I guess it's similar to the War in Iraq in that way isn't it? The government keeps us at war so that we don't focus on the real issues, the problems at home with an increase in prejudice and the elimination of the middle class. Problems are getting out of control, and no one knows how to handle it, so they keep the War in Iraq in the mainstream media so as not to think about it. However, we can't ignore the problems any longer, but we keep searching for substitutes, such as the war and religion.

I actually (sadly) agree with you! But it makes me sad to think about. America is very controversial on every issue. And religion boy, you will have a hard time finding a hotter topic. I don't know what is wrong w/ them, but they seem to depend more on $$$ than God. And this I believe is the root of the problem. We can do our own part by being good to everyone in our small world, & have faith God will balance it all out. But just for the record, I am not American. Altho I do appreciate a lot of things in this country, I fear they are addressing the wrong problems. But hey ~~ I pray! :o[]

I just love the way people come out with such nicely phrased questions. My what intelligence pervades the forum. Nothing is wrong with me as a person or an American. People who fight over religion are not only found in our nation. It is global. So I suggest you up your dosage and forego the generalizations in the future.

It is much better here in America to debate religion than to have cowed to the radical Muslim extremists like has happened in Europe. 1 in 3 new immigrants into Europe today is an Islamic. It won't be long until they are the majority there and those radicals will be at your door instead of somewhere in the distant desert.
How long until (you) are begging America to bail (you) out again?

I think part of the reason our country is falling apart is due to religion, and especially due to the neocon's con of the conservative christians. This is not the only way that I am trying to bring America back to sanity.

Hmmm. Do you believe all stereotypes or just some? America is a very diverse country and it is okay not to know better when you only know what is told to you. Come for a visit, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Good question, false statement.

Let us explore,
After I consider the discovery of Penicillin, placing a man on the moon, invention of the micro processor, the saving of Europe (not once but twice) in the last century, the fact that we produce the food that feeds the world, etc. etc. etc...Compared to the fact that whatever backwater YOU come from where I am sure you're only one generation away from hitting an Ox with a stick down a dirt trail we have EARNED the right to do as we wish BIG-SHOT!

Because religion is one of the main reasons its falling apart! For example, without the voting support of the christian fundies, Bush wouldnt have had a chance in either election.
