Look at the Power options in your Control Panel. There is a delay to enter sleep mode. If you wish to deactivate it, this is the first place to look at.

The second place to look at are specific applications that may come with your system. For example, IBM or Dell laptops may come with their own energy saving software. Look at the program folders under the Start button and check if such an application exists.

If all these options are deactivated and the system still goes to sleep, look a two other things:

1) Make sure that you're not pressing by mistake the power button of your PC. I've seen people hitting this button with their knee for example and shutting down their PC...

2) Virus?... Do a virus scan with a recent virus scanner.

Good luck!
