It does not mean you can say anything you wish to say. If you go around saying someone is an idiot, a criminal, or the anti-christ, you may want to have some proof first because you can be sued for slander. You also can't shout FIRE in a crowded theater, incite a riot, or encourage criminal activities. Political correctness has put a damper on a lot of free speech. You can't tell dirty jokes in the workplace, use racial epitaphs, etc., without being charged with harassment. However, you can express opposition to government policies.

Freedom of Speech is our right as stated in our Constitution, it has evolved just like all other rights we have severely taken advantage of. Humans are the only species that has the gift of speech, so why do most resort to Animals when using it?

I say that no law should be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances. Respect for the freedom of speech is respect for the human rights and as a youth representative, I say, freedom of speech is one essential aspect of being human.

When you found a piece of question with those "Three little words" on "Who are you" left behind by our creator for each and every living human kind to come up with an answer only then you know what is freedom of speech when those out there can only hang "Fear is the key" at your doorstep and know they themselves is at loss with that piece on question and is behind time on planet earth.
How embarassing when they could not solve their own problems but hanging "Fear is the key "on someone else doorstep on planet earth.

This is a freedom we should not exploit. We're free to say anything, but that does not mean we should make speeches that give misleading information thus inconveniencing other people, or even hurt them. When we receive a gift we really dislike, we're free to express our opinion, but how many of us would really tell the giver that the gift is not appreciated.

Everyone seems to like it in the abstract, but the minute someone says someting they don't agree with, you hear "who do you think you are to talk like that" or "if that's how you feel, go live in another country"--it seems to me people only want to protect their own freedom of speech, everybody else should shut up.

It is one of our best freedoms.

We have the right to say what we want, no matter how inflammatory. We cannot be prosecuted for our opinions, regardless of whether people like them or find them offensive.

And this newest trend by the eco-libs of attempting to prosecute "global warming deniers" is complete trash. I have the right to "deny" global warming just as I have the right to deny the holocaust. Just because you (or whomever) doesn't agree or even if it is proven wrong, it is still our most valuable right.

Well I hope every American irregardless of party agrees that it is at the heart of a free society. Yea, a lot of times the news is just garbage. But, the fact that any of us can print or broadcast facts of interest or our own opinions is great. It a check and balance system that keeps us all honest.

It's good,as long as it doesn't hurt innocent people for no good
reason. It doesn't apply to slander or libel. Nor should it be used
to promote ideologies based on hatred, such as that used by the
Nazis.
