most men that owe as much back childsupport as my exwife does would be in jail.

Because it's an anomaly. There aren't that many single dads as compared to single moms. There are also so many deadbeat parents that a number of them are going to slip through the cracks, male or female. Sad, but true. Society also perceives that men are better providers, regardless, and expect them to be able to provide for a family wihtout additional help.

At least as a single dad, you don't have to deal with people wondering if you were some sort of slut who got knocked up by her babydaddy in between her other one-night stands. (Before everyone jumps on me, I know that's not true, but that's what a LOT of people automatically think when they see a single mom). Single dad are NOBLE in society's view. My husband always jokes if I ever leave him, he's taking the kid and telling a sob story about me leaving him, and it just being him and his little girl from now on, to get all the girls to fall for him (I've seen it happen when he has the baby in the store...women just HAVE to talk to him...that baby is a chick-magnet)

That being said, your exwife is a worthless excuse for a mother. I'd say that about any deadbeat parent, male or female. Good luck, and thanks for being man enough to step up to your responsibilities.

It is a old stigma, women stay at home and take care of the kids while men work to support them. For years and years men were not allowed custody of the children in a divorce situation.

Although times have changed and often women make more money than men they don't get treated the same. Women are just better than men when it comes to telling sob stories and lying. They may be the weaker sex physically but, are much better at manipulation to get what they want.

Therefore when you go to court even when you win they still get preferred treatment. Who ever heard of a woman going to jail for not paying support the theory is you made them you pay for them. Not fair but the way it is.

That's a really good question ......I know I don't think it's fair that men get their license revoked when they get behind , Then they can't drive to work . But then they get locked up , which puts them further behind ....So where's the point in doing that .? The system is really screwed up ! Where did the goverment come up with this idea ?....... I don't get support for my children , because it's too much of a hassle . I've had them on my own for three years now , but now they have a wonderful step dad who treats the like his own .

My sister has to pay childsupport and goes throught the state/court system just as any man would. When she missed payments they took her to the court. I think it depends on the situation and how involved the dad is in collecting the support.

My kids' father owes us over $30k in back support and he's yet to spend one day in jail. The system just doesn't work for a lot of us.

Hang in there. What goes around comes around. It has to, I'm counting on it!

I can't judge. I know no single dads. Sounds like you need a lawyer and get your ex to court to pay up

I think it's very admirable, but society tends to favor women when it comes to things like that..but if I were you I would contact a lawyer and get her put away

do not even get me started, me ex owes so much and they do nothing to her except suspend her license, which doesn't make a diff, if it was a guy he would be in jail or be constantly harrassed
