God is with us all ,perhaps in that fox hole you were not praying but some one else was praying for you .
We don't know why God say.s no. Just because your prayer did not get the answer you wanted ,doesn't mean God did not listen .We will never understand it all ,we just need to have faith.
You may not believe in God ,but he believes in you.It is not to late for you .

I'd like it to be, just like I'd like it to be my first response when I hear a fire/ambulance siren. Sadily - my faith walk is not that developed yet.
My first response tends to be either bluster or cowardice. I get to prayer fairly rapidly in cowardice situations. Its the bluster response that holds me back.
Therefore - I try to get my praying in ahead of time. It helps keep me covered.

Yes, almost instinctively. All prayers are answered, but sometimes the answer is 'no'.

no its not. I never grew up around any type of religion. My family was never very religious and i just never claimed a religion for myself.
My first reaction to fear is to scream.

"Yea tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23
It is an incredibly moving verse when you are scared, esp in the dark or just trying to sleep.:o]

Fear has power over you only if you let it have power over you...

I'm sure the passengers on the hijacked planes on 9/11 prayed, and look what it did for them. NOTHING. Prayer is simply milking a false hope.
