My 16 month old has this small white sac looking thing hanging off of his gums. It looked like a tooth that just broke through the skin. I thought it was a tooth when I saw it a week and a half ago since it is right where his molars are and he is due for them. Then when I was checking for more teeth last night, i noticed that when he touched it with his tongue, it moved. I will be calling his doctor tomorrow when they open. But until then, has anyone else experienced something like this????

Is it soft? Does it move when you touch it? Maybe it's thrush.

It's not a cold sore. Cold sores (caused by the herpes virus) happen at the edge of mucus membranes: The lips, the nose, the eyes, the genitals. Not deep inside the mouth. Perhaps Patrick was thinking canker sore?

Sounds like thrush.

Its an absess. I used to have one when I was growing up. The worst thing to do is pop it. That needs to be done by a professional because they are highly infectious. Good Luck and I am sure the dentist will help you tomorrow.

when i was little i remember getting that. I can't remember what it is called, but i know i had to go to the dentist. It did not ever hurt me or anything. I think they just gave me a prescription, and they might have drained it. Go to the dentist tomarrow, and do not stress.

Sounds like cold sores, or puss pockets.
