You better believe it. Without some morals and values--things would be like the wild wild west. Do you want to live an a society where the point of the gun is the only law?

Well, actually I think I owe our Deist founders a lot more than the Puritans, Pilgrims and Columbus.

*Puritans were horrible religious fanatics that killed "Witches"
*The Pilgrims were similar hardcore religious fanatics
*Columbus was a horrible mass-murderer. Ever heard of what he did to the Arawak indians? He forced every one of them to get him a certain amount of gold or he would cut their hands off. Only, there was no gold on their island. The result, tens of thousands of slashed off hands. Besides, he didn't even land within what would become the USA. He landed in what is now Haiti and the Dominican republic.

Our founders on the other hand gave us rights and increased standards of living... Many of our founders were not "Followers of Christ" but Deists as I mentioned before.

We are reffering to the founders of the USA. Jefferson, etc. Not those horrid European settlers. Get it straight man. I'm reffering to the people who made our country possible. Not to evil religious fanatics who killed witches that arrived before it became a colony.

I would say most people in the USA have benefitted from the Puritans in a very fundamental way...it is so ingrained in our national psyche, we don't even realize it is courtesy of them...our hard work ethic! When the settlers came to America, they had to work very very hard just to survive. Combine that with their teachings about idle hands being the devil's workshop, and you have a culture that stresses the importance of hard work. In less than 200 years, we have gone from nothing to one the world's most powerful nations...that's one thing...

Well of course - it was the Puritans, and the Quakers of course, who were the framers of our constitutional ideals.

Where Columbus is concerned, don't you just have to thank him for discovering all of those nice places in the Caribbean?

As far as Christ goes, ummm...what was your question again?
