Think about why you want to get your belly button pierced in the first place. Does it make any sense? Are you doing it to try and fit in? Do you just like the way it looks? I think that a pierced belly button on a 13 year old will definitely give people an idea of who you are before they know anything about you, and it's probably not what you want them to think about you. If I were you (and I'm not....so you have to decide for yourself!) I would think a little more about why you want to do this before even pushing the idea any further w/ your mom. Then if that's what you really want, tell your mom so and see what she says.

Good luck and God Bless!

Well, to be honest 13 is kinda young as far as I am concerned, but not all parents feel the same way. So I am going to try to look at it from your perspective, because my daughter isn't as old as you yet. If you really, really, really are sure that you want to get this done, than I would suggest trying to sit down with your mom maturely, and explain why you want to get it. But don't give your hopes up. I have my belly pierced, and I didn't get it done untill I was 23. It hurt really bad when he did it and he pierced me crooked and with the wrong size (he went to small). So I ended up having to get it stretched, which hurt worse that getting it pierced the first time. So really think about this before you get this done. Also, if you think that it is going to make you cooler or more attractive, it won't to everyone. And if you decide you don't like it you will always have that hole there because it don't close up all the way. Good Luck, and make a good decision, and don't pester your mom if she says no. :)

That does seem young to get it done. Not to mention that belly button piercings are what are called "surface" piercing and encounter many more problems than the regular old ear piercing. My sister had hers done when she was 17 years old and for the first few months it was fine, but then she encountered many problems with it, including her body trying to expel it. Wait a few years, do a little research, and then talk to your mom about it.

Just say "Oh, so you are not going to let me pierce my belly because some friend commented about it?? Talk about taking back your words mother."

That is if you REALLY want to make this choice. I wonder if you have any problems with your stomach if you are pregant when your belly's pierced...

But seriously, it does look trashy and yeah to me. Slight stupid and dumb. But if you really want to, go for it I guess. It could be the worst choice in your life or not. Think about it.

Seriously, I may be 15, but I'm not ready to pierce my belly button. I don't want to and even if I did, my mom wouldn't let me. I think our family wants me to be a clean teen, that's why..

That is the exact same problem that my friend had when we were 13. Her mom said ok and my friend went and got it done and then someone convinced her that it was trashy like you said and her mom made her take it out. My friend did everything in the world to convince her mom. she showed her pics of how it was done, begged with her.. she even went and got it redone despite what her mother said but was once again forced to take it out.. Finally she got her mom to compromise to let her get it when she turned 16. That was the best she could do. Try to compromise with your mom maybe that will work.

I agree with your mom. Belly button piercing is a trend on it's way out. Lots famous celebs who've had it done have stopped wearing theirs. The only people who get their belly buttons pierced now are late-comer, band-wagon jumpers who are years behind the times. Be a trend-setter, not a follower. That's waaaaay more hip than anything else!

Legally your too young to get your anything peirced without your mother! Most shops won't look at you even if you have your mother with you at 16! I was gonna get mine done but that is sooooo old now! I wouldn't get it done with your friend! Don't go with your friend because if they are a good place they won't even let you guys in! Piercing and tattoos are very serious! you actually might get tired of it because no one really cares if you have one or not! I would wait until your 16 and see if you still want it! by that time you can do it with your mother! you'll feel better knowing that she knows! your 13 you really don't know what you want yet! i got mine done when i turned 23 and i had to take it out because i developed a keloid on the top of the hole! it looked nasty the time it was healing! you don't want to have to got through that!

I wouldn't let my 13 year old get a belly button piercing , or any other kind of piercing for that matter. She can just wait 'till she is 18.
Talk to your mom.

Peace.

I think it's "How can I be convinced not to do it?" I've had friends who've done it and all they got were infections. I don't see why girls want it, only CERTAIN guys like it, and those are the kind of guys you don't want around. My sister is 13, and I would flip out if I found out she got a belly button ring.

I'm going to be mom-like. You shouldn't get it pierced. Belly button rings are not in style. You're too young also. They are trashy. Wait until you're 21 and then see if you still want one. I bet you won't. Listen to your mom, moms can actually be smart ladies once in awhile.
